Samsung has been keeping its head high as its last year flagships – the Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, and Galaxy Note 8 – were all both critically and commercially acclaimed. As we reported, Samsung confirmed a couple of days back that it will unveil the Galaxy S9 before the end of February at MWC 2018. With almost less than 50 days to go, what is claimed to be the Galaxy S9 retail box leaked on Reddit, possibly revealing Samsung S9 key features ahead of its official unveiling.
By the looks of it, the leaked Galaxy S9 retail box appears similar to retail package of Galaxy S8 and S8+. It has the same texture and the same matte black colour.
Samsung Galaxy s9 Key Details and Highlights (from Leaked box)
The most important revelation that came out from this alleged retail box is the Samsung Galaxy S9 Camera details. If you examine the box closely, you will find “Super Speed Dual Pixel 12 MP OIS (f1.5/F2.4)” mentioned. This implies, the Galaxy S9 won’t get dual camera setup but more importantly, Samsung is offering variable aperture (f/1.5 to f/2.4 aperture) for the primary shooter.
What will be interesting to learn is how Samsung implements this new mobile camera tech in the Galaxy S9. Samsung’s W2018 Flip phone, that launched in South Korea recently, also had variable aperture options used for improved low light performance and creating bokeh effect using just one single lens.
The Galaxy S9 camera will also be able to shoot Super Slow-mo videos, it is likely to support up to 1000fps video recording. As per the alleged box, the S9 selfie camera will of 8-megapixels with auto-focus support.
As per the leaked Galaxy S9 dimensions, it measures 146.5mm in height which makes it a tad smaller than the Galaxy S8(148.9mm) while still retaining the same display size. Samsung once again will be offering bezel-less infinity 5.8-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display with 18.5:9 aspect ratio.This is also in line with previous Samsung galaxy s9 design leaks.
Though there is no mention of the chipset on the alleged retail box, we already know that Samsung will be employing Snapdragon 845 in the Galaxy S9 global variant while it is expected to pack its latest Exynos 9810 in the Galaxy S9 India variant. The S9 will come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB onboard storage with dedicated microSD card slot.
Samsung could also offer another variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. Other S9 features listed on the retail box are IP68 water and dust resistance, stereo speakers tuned by AKG and earphones, wireless charging support, Knox security, and iris scanner.

Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ Price in India and Launch Date
The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ expected to launch in India sometime in March 2018 after a global launch at MWC 2018 in Barcelona next month. Samsung is likely to announce S9 and S9+ price at the same event.
