Reliance has officially launched Jio AirFiber today on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. With this AirFiber launch, Reliance plans to give tough competition to the existing Airtel AirFiber plans. Both these devices aim to bring fiber-grade internet speeds to areas that do not have access to Fiber connectivity. Telecom companies also aim to make 5G available to rural areas in the country.

The devices are meant for houses or other locations that require a fast internet connection. This tower-like internet device can offer superfast 5G internet connectivity without any lengthy cables or wires. It is a plug-and-play device that is not only efficient but portable as well. With Airtel and Jio clashing directly over AirFiber devices, many people might be confused about which one they should opt for. To solve this confusion, we are here with this writeup.

Jio AirFiber Plans

1. Jio AirFiber Rs. 599 Plan

It offers 30 Mbps speed with unlimited data and is available in 6- and 12-month validity options. The price is Rs. 599 + GST per month.

2. Jio AirFiber Rs. 899 Plan

It offers 100 Mbps speed with unlimited data and is available in 6- and 12-month validity options. The price is Rs. 899 + GST per month.

The subscription includes OTT apps like Jio Cinema, Disney+Hotstar, SonyLIV, Zee5, Universal+, Lionsgate Play, Sun Nxt, Hoichoi, Discovery+, ShemarooMe, Alt Balaji, Eros Now, Epic On and DocuBay.

It offers 100 Mbps speed with unlimited data and is available in 6- and 12-month validity options. The price is Rs. 1199 + GST per month.

Note- Jio will charge Rs. 1000 for installation. However, it will be waived for the 12-month plan.

Airtel Xstream Fiber Plans

As of September 2023, Airtel is offering only 1 plan in India the Xstream AirFiber Plan. There is a 100Mbps plan with a 3.3TB limit. It costs Rs. 799 per month and is available in a 6-month plan, which will cost Rs. 7733 including Rs. 2500 security deposit.

Both the devices are trying to solve the same problem. While Airtel offers only 1 plan, it is available in 2 cities only. On the other hand, Jio is offering in 8 cities with plans starting as low as Rs. 599+GST.

Moreover, Jio is offering free OTT apps and set-top boxes as well. The speed too goes up to 1Gbps. In terms of hardware, both devices are powered by WiFi 6 capable of delivering up to 9.6Gbps speed with 8×8 MIMO and better power efficiency as well. One Major Pro is the range. With AirFiber devices, users can get WiFi connectivity even if they are far away from the device. Jio says the AirFiber can cover up to 100 sq. ft. Area within the same floor.

Jio AirFiber is available in 8 cities- Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Pune.

Airtel Xstream AirFiber Vs Jio AirFiber: Installation & Portability

Airtel Xstream AirFiber is a plug-and-play solution that can be self-installed using the Xstream AirFiber app. Buy the device, power it up and you are ready to use it. Jio AirFiber requires the installation of an outdoor unit on your terrace or somewhere outside the home by Jio. In terms of portability, Airtel is better.
