Intel To Release Lunar Lake Chips With Thrice The AI Performance Later This Year

The California-based chip manufacturer Intel is about to reveal its Lunar Lake CPUs later this year. The latest processors will take the baton from the Meteor Lake chips and offer thrice the AI performance. Intel announced the development earlier this week, stating that the Lunar Lake processors will debut in over 80 laptop models. Here’s everything we know about the upcoming Intel processors.

Intel’s Lunar Lake Processors To Get Microsoft Copilot+ Experiences Later This Year

A couple of days ago, Microsoft held its annual developer conference and announced the Copilot+ PCs with AI integration. Initially, the company said that the AI features would be available on laptops powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon X series of chips. However, per the official Intel announcement, the Copolit+ experiences will also be available for the Lunar Lake CPUs.

Intel Lunar Lake: New CPUs And A More Powerful NPU

The new Lunar Lake CPUs will feature advanced CPU cores and the new Xe2 graphics processor, which can handle over 60 tera operations per second. Further, the processor will also come with an NPU (neural processing unit) that supports over 45 tera operations per second. With the processor, the next generation of PCs will be able to run over 500 machine-learning models.

As mentioned earlier, the 80 laptops featuring the Lunar Lake CPUs will be from over 20 original equipment manufacturers (companies). Intel expects to ship at least 40 million AI PC chips this year. When the Lunar Lake processors arrive on laptops, they will compete with the models that feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X series. They will also rival Apple’s M3 Silicon chipset.
