Huawei P20 Camera-centric Flaghsip To Go Official On March 27: Expected Features

1

Huawei’s next big flagship phone will go official on March 27 in Paris (and not at MWC 2018). The Chinese smartphone manufacturer has already started rolling out press invites for presumably Huawei P20-series phones well ahead in advance.

The P20 was earlier referred to as P11 in leaked material, but somewhere midway Huawei changed the name to P20. Huawei P20 is also expected to share the stage with P20 Plus and P20 Lite.

Huawei P20 Key Highlights:

  • The star feature will be the Leica-engineered triple rear camera setup. P20 will be a camera-centric phone.
  • P20 Plus and P20 Lite are also expected to go official from the same stage.
  • Huawei P20 is expected to have an iPhone X like Notch-display.
  • All hardware will be powered by Kirin 970 octa-core chipset.

Huawei P20 Features (Rumored)

We still don’t know much about the new Huawei phone but rumors strongly point to the presence of 3 rear cameras. Considering that P-series has essentially put camera center-stage, and Huawei’s new found love for camera excesses, this seems entirely plausible.

Going by the international reviews, the Leica-engineered Mate 10 camera managed to impress with its camera performance. If rumors are to be believed, the P20 could include 5X Zoom, 40MP rear camera resolution, and 24MP selfie camera resolution. It would be exciting to see what innovative features Huawei adds this time and how well they work.

Some leaked teasers show 16:9 display, but more recent set of leaks point to the presence of an iPhone X like full-view screen with a notch.

We expect the phone to be powered by Kirin 970 chipset, the same one with a Neural Processing Engine that also pumps AI smarts in reigning flagships like Honor View 10 and Mate 10. Of course, the software should be Android 8.0 Oreo (or 8.1, maybe?) based EMUI 8.0.

Huawei P20 Availability

To start with, Huawei P20 will retail in Europe. Huawei P10 was also among the rare few Huawei branded devices to make it to India. So, yes, perhaps P20 might find its way to the subcontinent too. We won’t be betting on it, though.
