Part 1: Flexible 1-Click Process to Transfer to new iPhone

The most powerful and efficient method to transfer to new iPhone is using an application called dr.fone – Switch. The best part about this application is that it has the 1-Click solution to Copy One Phone to Another, move data between devices with different operating systems, i.e iOS to Android (restoring data from Android to iPhone this is the option most sought by users).

  • Can be used on all Windows and Mac OS computers.

Part 2: Selective Data Transfer to new iPhone

dr.fone – Switch is ideal for people who want to transfer all of the content from a particular data type to the new iPhone. However, if you want to transfer only some files and not all, you need to use dr.fone – Transfer (iOS).

  • Select which files you want to delete, edit, transfer, or export to your computer or iPhone.
  • Compatible with all iOS versions.

2. Select the ‘Transfer’ option from the menu.

3. Connect both iPhones to the computer.

4. Wait for dr.fone to detect the iPhones.

5. From the top left corner of the application, select the old iPhone as the ‘Source’.

6. You’ll find different tabs at the top to choose different types of files. If you want to transfer music files, click on ‘Music’.

7. If you want to transfer photos, click on ‘Photos’ and select the ones that you want to transfer.

8. If you want to edit, delete, or transfer contacts or messages, you need to select the ‘Information’ tab. In the left-hand panel, you’ll be able to switch between your messages and contacts.

9. Select the contacts or messages that you want to transfer and click on Export > Export to Device > iPhone.

10. You can also click on ‘Export to PC’ and then later import them to the new iPhone.

Part 3: Transfer to new iPhone using iTunes

Even though iTunes is the official tool launched by Apple to transfer files from one iPhone to another, it’s extremely difficult to operate and can lead to severe errors. If you want to transfer to new iPhone using iTunes, you need to follow these steps:

  1. Launch iTunes and connect your old iPhone to it.

2. From the devices section, select your iPhone.

3. Under Backups, select ‘This Computer’ and then click on ‘Back Up Now.’

4. Remove the old iPhone and connect the new one.

5. From the Summary window, select the ‘Restore Backup’ option.

6. Select the backup file which you recently saved and click on ‘Restore’.

Now the backup file will be written over your new iPhone.

Drawbacks of using iTunes:

  • Not user-friendly.
  • Time-consuming process.
  • You can’t choose the files you want to transfer. You’ll transfer all the content of the iPhone.
  • If you have any data in your new iPhone, it will be deleted and written over by the backup file.

Part 4: Transfer to new iPhone using iCloud

This method is also officially suggested by Apple. However, it has some of the same drawbacks as the iTunes method.

The following steps will show you how to transfer to new iPhone using iCloud sync:

  1. In your old iPhone, go to Settings > iCloud. Now toggle on the switches for all the data types that you want to sync to your iCloud.
  2. Wait for the sync to complete.
  3. In your new iPhone, go to Settings > iCloud. Log into the same iCloud account. Now select all the file types to sync. You’ll get all the files in your new iPhone.

This method is fairly simple, but it can only sync certain file types like Reminders, Mail, Contacts, Notes, etc. If you want to transfer additional files, you need to use the backup method.

The following steps will show you how to transfer to new iPhone using iCloud backup:

  1. In your old iPhone, go to Settings > iCloud > Backup.
  2. Turn the ‘iCloud Backup’ option On, and then click on ‘Back Up Now.’
  3. Start setting up your new iPhone. If you’ve already set up your new iPhone, then bring it back to factory setting and start setting again.
  4. In the ‘Set up iPhone’ page, select ‘Restore from iCloud Backup.’
  5. Log into your iCloud account, the same one where you stored the previous backup.
  6. Select the backup file you want to restore based on the date and time stamp.

Drawbacks of using iCloud:

  • Apple only gives 5GB free iCloud space. As such, if your phone has more data than that, you’ll have to buy additional iCloud space, which can be expensive.
  • Time-consuming and complicated process.
  • Can only be carried out on a completely new and empty new iPhone.

Part 5: Transfer to new iPhone from other Android phones

If you want to transfer to new iPhone from some other Android phone, then you’ll have to use the dr.fone – Switch tool mentioned in Part 1. dr.fone is a universal toolkit and it can be used by all Android phones and iPhones.

All the steps are the same. Except, you have to connect your old Android phone and in the ‘Switch’ window, set up the Android phone in the ‘Source’ position.

Conclusion

In this article, we showed you all the different methods to transfer to new iPhone from your old phone. If you want to transfer all of the files of a particular type, whether it’s iPhone or Android phone, you can use the dr.fone – Switch method. If you want to selectively transfer files, you can use dr.fone – Transfer. iTunes and iCloud are also valid options, however, they come with various major drawbacks.
