WhatsApp has become one of the most popular messaging apps in the world, with millions of people using it to communicate with friends and family. However, there may be times when you want to share a status update, but you don’t want certain people to see it. Thankfully, WhatsApp allows you to hide your status updates from specific people. In this article, we’ll show you how to hide status updates from specific people on WhatsApp.

What are the Status Updates Settings available on WhatsApp?

For the uninitiated, WhatsApp currently has three settings where you can select one as per your preference.
#1: My Contacts
When you select ‘My Contacts’, it means that everyone in your contact list can watch all your status updates.

#2: My contacts except…
This particular setting lets you prohibit some of the people in your contacts list from checking out your status updates. If you select it and mention ‘Mr. X’ as the participant, Mr. X won’t be able to see any of your status updates.

#3: Only share with
This is an anti-setting for #2. Here, you can select users who cannot view any of your status updates while all other contacts can.

How to Hide Status Updates From Specific People on WhatsApp

Let’s see how you can hide your WhatsApp status updates from certain users in your contacts list.

Step 1: Open WhatsApp and Go to Status

The first thing you need to do is open WhatsApp on your device. Once you’ve done that, tap on the Status tab. This is where you can view all the status updates posted by your contacts.

Step 2: Select the Status Update You Want to Hide

Next, select the status update that you want to hide from specific people. Tap on it to open it and view it in full screen mode.

Step 3: Tap on the Privacy Option

At the bottom of the screen, you’ll see an icon that looks like a circle with an arrow pointing up. Tap on this icon to reveal the privacy options for the status update.

Step 4: Choose Who Can See Your Status Update

You’ll now see three options for who can see your status update: My Contacts, My Contacts Except…, and Only Share With…. Tap on My Contacts Except… to choose specific people you want to hide your status update from.

Step 5: Choose the People You Want to Hide Your Status Update From

Step 6: Save Your Privacy Settings

Once you’ve selected the contacts you want to hide your status update from, tap on the Save button at the top of the screen. Your privacy settings will now be updated, and the selected contacts won’t be able to see your status update.

Step 7: Check Your Privacy Settings

If you want to double-check your privacy settings, you can do so by tapping on the three dots in the top right corner of the Status tab and selecting Privacy. This will show you a list of all the people who can see your status updates.

Step 8: Revert Your Privacy Settings

If you want to revert your privacy settings and allow the contacts you previously excluded to see your status update, simply follow the same steps and select My Contacts or Only Share With… instead of My Contacts Except….

In conclusion, WhatsApp allows you to hide your status updates from specific people. This can be a useful feature if you want to share a status update with some of your contacts but not others. By following these simple steps, you can easily choose who can and can’t see your status updates on WhatsApp.
