The day is here when Google is all set to host its annual developers conference aka I/O 2024. The event has been scheduled for 10 AM PT time today which means for Indians, the coverage will begin at 10:30 PM IST. During the I/O 2024, the main focus will be on the software and AI front, although Google might have some hardware announcements too up its sleeve. Earlier Pixel 8a was expected to be announced today, but in a surprising move, Google launched it last week. However, the Google Pixel 8a will go on sale from today.

Google I/O 2024 is said to have one of its key focus on Artificial Intelligence announcements. Reports claim Google will make its smartphones more AI-centric with AI features embedded into the operating system. Google is also planning to integrate AI with Search. The company has ramped up its commitment to AI through the Gemini model. Google seems to be doing away from traditional assistants towards a Gemini chatbot which will enable assistant-enabled smart home devices.
Android 15

Android 15 is expected to be one of the biggest announcements at the event. The OS is in beta testing mode right now and is claimed to arrive with a plethora of improvements to enhance user experience. The new features of Android 15 include app archiving support, end-to-end encryption, expanded support for satellite connectivity, and much more. Google is expected to offer a detailed look at Android 15 tonight. Beta insights have also revealed features like partial screen sharing, notification cooldown options, extended health tracking features, New APIs to improve app performance, and much more.

Pixie digital assistant
Google might introduce Pixie a new personalized digital assistant powered by the company’s Gemini technology. It is expected to offer features like providing details about objects captured in images or guiding users to nearby stores, hospitals, gas stations, and more.

While Google Pixel 8a has already been launched, the company might still have some hardware announcements up its sleeve. Reports claim Google might tease the upcoming Pixel 9 series or next-generation foldable Pixel Fold 2 or Pixel Fold 9 Pro. While there are rumors around the Pixel Tablet 2 as well, since Google launched a dockless version of the Pixel Tablet a few days ago, the next-generation Tab might not be in the pipeline imminently.
