Gionee’s big battery phone, the M2017, that has been popping up ever so frequently is finally official. The 7000mAh battery capacity of this Marathon series handset will fuel its 5.7-inch dual curved edge 2K AMOLED Display and 1.95GHz octa-core Snapdragon 653 chipset.

Just as in Marathon M5, the 7000mAh capacity is achieved by combining two 3500mAh batteries. As you would expect, this adds to the weight(238 grams) and thickness (10.78mm) of Gionee M2017.

Gionee, however, dexterously conceals these excesses behind a burly leather and metal design. In fact, the top model flaunts an Italian custom alligator leather back and costs a staggering RMB 16,999 (around $2,446 or Rs. 1,66,000).

The fingerprint sensor is clubbed with the home button on the front, and on the rear, there are two camera sensors – 12MP and 13MP – along with two-tone LED flash. The extra sensor facilitates 2X optical zoom. An 8MP front snapper should take care of your selfie needs.
