TL; DR
  • According to the Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station, the Oppo Find X9 Ultra could run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC.
  • While the Find X9 Ultra was rumored to feature a 200MP Sony IMX09E (LYT-990) primary sensor with a 1/1.1-inch size, the tipster also claims the presence of two periscope cameras on the handset.

Oppo is gearing up to launch its Find X9 series globally on October 28, 2025. While this launch will include the vanilla Find X9 and the Find X9 Pro, there’s an Ultra variant in the lineup as well, which will break cover sometime next year. We’re talking about the Find X9 Ultra, the handset that will take the baton from last year’s Find X8 Ultra. Most recently, a reliable Chinese tipster has shared some information about the handset’s chipset and cameras.

Find X9 Ultra Will Feature Qualcomm’s Most Powerful Chip Yet

According to the Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station, the Oppo Find X9 Ultra could run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC. For those catching up, this is Qualcomm’s latest chipset, featuring an octa-core CPU (with two prime cores clocked at 4.61 GHz), a new Adreno 840 GPU, a faster NPU, all while being more power-efficient than its predecessor.

The information seems in line with the current Find X8 Ultra (review), which runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. This will make the X9 Ultra more powerful than its immediate predecessor, bringing its performance up to the level of flagships from brands like Apple, Samsung, vivo, Xiaomi, OnePlus, and others. Of course, the chipset could be combined with high RAM and storage capacities.

200MP Periscope Camera Could Unlock Surprising Zoom Range

While the Find X9 Ultra was rumored to feature a 200MP Sony IMX09E (LYT-990) primary sensor with a 1/1.1-inch size, the tipster also claims the presence of two periscope cameras on the handset. Back in September, my colleague Mehtab already detailed the two Periscope cameras on the purported handset.

While the 3x periscope camera could use the 50MP Sony LYT-828 sensor with a 1/1.28-inch size, the 6x periscope camera could use a Samsung 200MP ISOCELL HP5 sensor, which should enable one of the highest zoom ranges seen on any smartphone to date. Of course, the company could incorporate higher zoom levels with some generative AI, but that won’t be a problem as long as the results appear realistic.
