Samsung Galaxy Unpacked Event is already scheduled to be held on August 11 and the company is expected to unveil Galaxy Watch 4 alongside next-gen foldable smartphones and Galaxy Buds 2. But prior to the event, the South Korean giant has detailed the Exynos W920 processor which is designed for smartwatches and other wearable devices.

Samsung has built the new Exynos W920 chip based on a 5nm process and calls it the first wearable-explicit processor of its kind. The new chip will be a successor to the Exynos 9110 processor launched back in 2018 with the Galaxy Watch. The W920 will come equipped with the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic at the Unpacked Event.

The Exynos W920 features two ARM Cortex-A55 CPU cores, a Cortex-M55 display processor, and ARM Mali-G68 GPU. The chip is said to deliver 20% enhanced performance and 10 times better graphical experience than the Exynos 9110. The processor will support a display with up to 960×540 pixels of resolution. The Cortex-M55 is meant to feature an Always-on display.

Also, Samsung has been working with Google to develop an improved OS combining Tizen and Wear OS for a smoother performance called Wear OS 3.
