Disney+Hotstar to go big with ‘Mahabharata’, ‘Showtime’ & ‘Koffee with Karan Season 8’

Disney+Hotstar has been at the helm of providing exciting new content to its viewers continuously and the OTT giant will now take entertainment a notch higher with some more Mega Releases that have been announced during the D23 Expo.

Disney+Hotstar has announced shows like Mahabharata, Showtime, and Koffee with Karan Season 8. The announcement was made by the Head of Content at Disney+Hotstar Gaurav Banerjee on Saturday at the D23 Expo. These 3 new shows mounted on a huge scale will strengthen the collaboration of Hotstar with Bollywood Producer Karan Johar as well as form a new association with Madhu Mantena, Mythoversestudios, and Allu Entertainment.

Gaurav Banerjee discussed eclectic global content trends and emphasized Hotstar’s role in shaping content in India and beyond. All these shows will soon be launched on the streaming platform.

Karan Johar exclaimed his excitement for the return of his talk show, which aired 18 years ago, for another season. He also revealed that Dharma Production will be bringing a new fiction series titled Showtime. It will be a drama series that will try to bring forward the trade secrets of India’s entertainment industry.

Mahabharata is one of the most ambitious projects of the OTT giant. It is the greatest epic of India which sees a battle for succession between Pandava and Kaurava princes. There are no details about who will be on the cast of this show.

Disney D23 Expo kicked off on Saturday and ended on Sunday. During the event, studios like Disney, Pixar, and Marvel showcased their future projects. Trailers for The Little Mermaid, Amy Adams-led Disenchanted, and Hocus Pocus 2 have been revealed. Marvel unveiled the trailer for Midnight Suns and an untitled game that pits Captain America and Black Panther against each other.
