Google’s People Card feature is a great way to make yourself discoverable on Google search. The feature was introduced a couple of years ago to let individuals create a virtual visiting card on Google search. If you have a People Card, others will be able to search for your name and find more information about you like your website, socials, and more.

So, if you want to create a People Card for yourself, you are in the right place. Whether you want to create a new People Card, edit an existing one, or remove your People Card from search, we’ve got you covered. Let’s get started.

Update: As of April 07, 2024, Google has discontinued the People Card feature.

Prerequisites

Before you go ahead and create your People Card, here are a few things to take note of:

  • Your Google account must be a personal account.
  • You must be located in India, Kenya, Nigeria, or South Africa.
  • Your People Card will only appear on mobile phones and tablets.
  • You must have a unique phone number that is not associated with any other account or People Card.
  • The primary language of your Google account must be either English or Hindi.
  • Make sure that Web & App Activity is turned on for your account.

If you don’t have Web & App Activity turned on, follow the steps below.

  1. Open the Google app.
  2. Tap on your profile picture at the top.
  3. Then, tap on Manage your Google Account.
  4. Go to the “Data & privacy” tab.
  5. Under “History settings,” tap on Web & App Activity.
  6. Make sure to turn on Web & App Activity from here.

Create your People Card

If you have met all the above-listed requirements, then you are ready to create your profile card. Creating your profile card is easy. Follow the steps below.

  1. Open the Google app or go to Google.com and make sure that you are signed in using a personal account. Tap on your profile picture at the top and then tap the email to switch accounts.
  2. Search for “add me to search.”
  3. Scroll down to Add yourself to Google Search and tap on “Get started.”
  4. You might have to enter your phone number to verify your identity. This is solely for verification purposes unless you explicitly want to show it on your People Card.
  5. Set up your profile by entering the details required. Enter your Location, About (a short bio), and Occupation. You can also add your Work, Education, Hometown, Website details, Social Profiles, and more.
  6. Tap on Change avatar to edit your display picture.
  7. Once your profile is set up, tap on Preview at the bottom.
  8. Check to see if everything you’ve entered is correct and tap on Save or Submit.

It might take a couple of hours for your search card to show up on Google search. Check back in a few hours.

Edit your People Card

If you ever want to make changes to your People Card, you can do that by editing it. You can change the avatar, location, occupation, work, education, social profiles, and more. Follow the steps below.

  1. Open the Google app or go to Google.com and make sure that you are signed in using the account that you just used to create the People Card.
  2. Search for “edit my People Card.”
  3. Tap on Edit next to your name.
  4. Make the desired changes to your profile and tap on Preview > Submit once you are done.
