Bajaj Avenger 220 EV: Here’s how to convert a Bajaj Avenger bike into an electric bike

India is adopting electric vehicles at a rapid pace including two-wheelers, four-wheelers, and small commercial vehicles. In order to further accelerate this EV culture, a Thane-based startup called GoGoA1 is offering an EV conversion kit to convert Bajaj Avenger 220 into an electric vehicle. The kit can also be used in several other motorcycle models.

In the past, the same start-up had announced an EV conversion setup for Splendour back in September 2021. Now, the company has developed a new set of components for EV conversion that can be installed in traditional Avenger 220 to convert it into a hybrid bike that can run on both petrol and electricity. Here are the details.

Bajaj Avenger 220 conversion kit

The hybrid EV conversion kit from GoGoA1 for Bajaj Avenger 220 comes with an interesting inclusion of components to make it a functional hybrid motorcycle. The kit includes a lithium-ion battery pack of 72V, 35A capacity, a 17-inch brushless hub motor with a power of 2000W, a regenerative controller, a wrist throttle, a disc with a catcher, mounting plate, a coupler, and a DC converter.

As per the company, the conversion kit allows a top speed of up to 60kmph and a single battery pack offers a range of up to 50km on a single charge. The riding range can be increased after installing two battery packs.

GoGoA1 sells the conversion kit as a a DIY Kit(Do-it-yourself) where the user himself has to install the setup with the bike. If he wishes he can get professional assistance as well to get the job done. The kit is designed to work in fashion such that the front wheel will be powered by an electric setup and the rear wheel run on the conventional ICE engine.

EV Motorcycle Conversion Kit Price

The EV solution company has priced the conversion kit at Rs 27,760 for the aforementioned components. However, GoGoA1 offers some optional components like a key switch, DC MCD, wiring harness, anti-theft system, and a universal switch at additional cost.

How to change your bike into EV

GoGoA1 has made is it easier to transform an existing motorcycle into an electric bike at affordable prices. The company claims to offer an approved kit so that it can be registered at RTO for a valid RC book. Nevertheless, here are the steps you can take to change your bike into EV.

  1. Head to the GoGoA1 official website
  2. Select the optional component if required.
  3. Click on ‘Add to Cart’ and ‘Checkout’
  4. Enter an email address, phone number, and shipping details. The company also offers in-person pick up of the kit from its Navi Mumbai office.
  5. Make payment
  6. Once you received the conversion kit, you can either do it yourself or seek professional help.
