On the first day of CES 2021, ASUS’ Republic of Gamers arm has made several announcements including a new ROG Flow X13, Zephyrus Duo 15 SE, ROG Strix Scar 17, and other exciting products. Let’s look at the specs and features of each one in details:

ROG Flow X13

It’s an ultra-portable 13-inch gaming laptop that is driven by AMD Ryzen 9 5980HS CPU coupled with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 GPU. The ROG Flow features a 360 hinge which allows you to set different viewing angles as per your convenience.

It is offered with a 120Hz FHD screen or 4K panel with 60 Hz refresh rate. The 16:10 touchscreen is Pantone validated for color accuracy. Most interestingly, the ROG Flow X13 can be connected with XG mobile, an external GPU with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 GPU. Also, it is the first-ever AMD-based laptop from ROG where they have used the liquid metal thermal paste on the die. Asus claims 10 hours of battery life with a 62Wh battery. The unit ships with a compact 100W Type-C charger.

Asus ROG XG

Asus also announced ROG XG – a mobile external GPU based on the new GeForce RTX 3080 laptop GPU. The ROG XG is the smallest eGPU ever, claims Asus. The ROG XG is only 6 percent the size of a regular Thunderbolt eGPU enclosure.

The ROG XG comes with a built-in 280W power supply and can power the ROG Flow X13, eliminating the need to carry another power adapter.

ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE

This 2021 laptop is an improved version of its predecessor that was announced in 2020. IT comes with ScreenPad PLus secondary screen which can be used to perform and control various activities.

The Zephyrus Duo 15 SE has AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX mobile processor CPU at its heart. Asus has further added NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 graphics.

The gaming laptop comes with either a 120 Hz 4K display with 100% Adobe RGB color space coverage. There’s also a FHD version which has a 300 Hz refresh rate and a 3 ms response time. Asus claims that its laptop has 100% sRGB color space coverage. Both variants of the laptops are PANTONE Validated and support Adaptive-Sync technology.

The Taiwanese company also claims to have used a new and upgraded Active Aerodynamic System Plus (AAS+) cooling system that keeps things cool with improved CPU & GPU performance while avoiding frustrating noise levels.

ROG Strix SCAR 17

ROG Strix SCAR 17, on the other hand, is hardcore gamers laptop featuring up to GeForce RTX 3080 graphics and up to an AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX mobile processor CPU. ASUS has used a dual-channel DDR-3200 MHz memory with new fans and liquid-metal cooling.

The Strix SCAR 17 claims to feature the world’s fastest laptop display. The 360 Hz FHD panel has just 3 ms response time. Consumers will have an option to opt for a 165 Hz WQHD panel variant. It also claims to display full DCI-P3 color gamut and supports Adaptive-Sync technology. The SCAR 17 gaming laptop includes quad-speakers with Dolby Atmos support. There’s also support for AI Noise-Cancelation thanks to dual mics onboard.
