0

It’s September and it’s time for new iPhones. Apple has sent out invites for a special event to be held in September, just like last year. The event will be an online-only affair and streamed live from Apple Park, California. While last year the event’s tagline said, “Time flies”, this year it says, “California Streaming”. All the eyes will be on this event as Apple is expected to unveil some exciting stuff on this day.

Apple has already had two events this year so far. The first one was in April where iPad upgrades, colorful iMacs, a purple iPhone 12 were major attractions while the second one was the annual WWDC developers’ event, where Apple launched the first look of iOS 15, MacOS Monterey, Watch OS 8, and iPadOS 15.

Apple usually hosts 3-4 events in a year with a spring event, a summer developer conference, and one or two events in the fall. The fall events happen in September usually and it tends to feature new iPhones and Apple Watch upgrades.

Let us have a look at what to expect from the September 2021 event:

iPhone 13

This range is rumored to feature 4 iPhones namely the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max. Speculations are that iPhone 13 series could be coming with a new design, upgraded cameras, battery, and other specs. According to Max Weinbach, there will be no price rises for the iPhone 13 line-up. The iPhone 13 Mini will offer one-hour additional battery life whereas iPhone 13 Pro Max will feature an 18-20% larger battery than iPhone 12 Pro Max.

Apple Watch 7

Apple’s next generation of wearable devices could have some new features like a sleek, flat-edged redesign, better battery, and possibly a glucose monitoring sensor. The latest leaks suggest that the Apple Watch 7 is set to see the biggest improvement in battery life this time.

AirPods 3

According to an earlier report from Bloomberg, Apple’s AirPods could get an upgrade this year. It is said to have similar features to AirPods Pro like spatial audio support, a shorter stem, interchangeable tips, and a portable charging case. Leakster Max Weinbach revealed that the third generation AirPods will feature a charging case with a 20 percent larger battery compared to 2nd generation pods, but will offer wireless charging as standard. The batteries in each pod will be around the same size as previous models. Sound quality is mostly said to be the same as that of second-generation AirPods, but with improved bass in the low end.

iPad Mini 6

Since the other tablets have already seen upgrades this year, the only one remaining is the iPad Mini 6. Changes in design are also expected with this one.

Ninth-generation iPad

According to Gurman, Apple’s next tablet could feature a slimmer design and an improved processor.

New MacBook Pros, Mac Pros, Mac Mini, iMac, and Apple Display

Apple is said to be working on its own chip like M1 to power its Mac and thus it is expected that it may soon announce a new version of its processor for the new MacBook Pro or Mac Pro. Updates for both Mac Mini and 27-inch-iMac are also expected to be announced along with an affordable version of Apple’s Pro Display XDR that was initially released in 2019.

Echo Show competitor

Brand new devices from Apple might include its competitor to Amazon Echo Show. It would fuse an entry-level iPad with a speaker, a soundbar equipped with a built-in Apple TV similar to Roku’s soundbar, and an Apple augmented or virtual reality headset.

However, all these are just the expected launches as per various reports. We will have to wait till the next week to see what Apple has in store for us. Whether there will be any surprises is still suspense.
