In shocking news, Apex Legends Mobile, the game that won the best game of the year 2022 on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, will be shut down this year. Electronic Arts (EA) have decided to kill the game by May 1, 2023. It has been said that the developers of the game, Respawn Entertainment, are taking the decision due to factors that cannot be controlled.

It has also been announced by the franchise that the real money in-app purchases in the game will be stopped starting today. Not only this, but EA has also confirmed that another major title Battlefield Mobile, which was going to launch this year, has also been cancelled by the studio.

Why did Apex Legends Mobile and Battlefield Mobile get cancelled?

One of the major reasons cited by the company to cancel Fortnite is that the studio was falling short of the quality and quantity of the content. Due to the same reason, the studio has decided to shut down the mobile version of Apex Legends at 4 PM PDT on May 1, 2023 (which is around 5:30 PM IST on May 2).

All the players who have purchased in-app products will be able to use them till the time the game is not killed. Another major highlight of the announcement is that EA will not offer any refunds for any of the real money purchases according to the terms of the EA User Agreement. In addition, all the game content available for sale on third-party websites is not available from now on. Apex Legends will only be available for PC and console.

As for the Battlefield Mobile, EA has put a stamp on the fact that it will not work further on the upcoming battle royale. EA officials said that they have decided to move away from the current direction towards delivering the best they can for the franchise and cater for the expectation of the already existing players.
