At the current COMPUTEX 2025 tech show, AMD has unveiled significant updates, including the Threadripper 9000 CPU and Radeon RX 9060 XT GPUs, which are aimed at mid-range gamers and high-end desktop users. AMD asserts that these innovations are intended to reinforce their status as a leader in performance, offering state-of-the-art hardware tailored for gamers, creators, and power users.

AMD Threadripper 9000 CPU Series

The lineup caters to builds that demand more power than the typical 16-core CPUs and are built on advanced 4nm Zen 5 architecture. It packs a staggering 96 cores and 192 threads and aims at high-end desktop users. Flagship Threadripper Pro 9995WX has up to 384MB of L3 cache and 128 lanes of PCIe Gen 5 making it ideal to pair with various GPUs.

The Threadripper is tailored for professionals seeking enhanced visual effects and AI model development. The Ryzen Threadripper 9980X features 64 cores and 128 threads, with a base clock speed of 3.2GHz and 320MB of L3 cache. The CPUs are available in 24, 32, and 64 core configurations. All new models in this series will operate at a thermal design power of 350 watts and are compatible with existing motherboards that support the sTR5 socket. While the exact pricing has yet to be revealed, the SoCs are expected to range from 1500 USD to 5000 USD, with an official launch scheduled for July.

The lineup will launch on June 5 and is made for seamless 1440p gaming. AMD claims it will outperform Nvidia’s RTX 5060 Ti by around 6% in raw performance across 40 tested games, not accounting for AI-enhanced upscaling or frame generation.

The 8GB model is priced at 299 USD while the 16GB version costs 349 USD. AMD says, “It is the fastest graphics card you can get under 350 USD.”
