Sony Ericsson Elm review: Green roots

By this point it must be pretty clear that the Sony Ericsson Elm is a reasonably attractive package. Rich functionality comes in a well built shell and the potent user interface has done well to be in step with the times. Things get even sweeter if you happen to like the human-curvature design. And we need to say it straight  its not a gimmick, ergonomics are excellent.

To give you a better idea of the good value for money the Sony Ericsson Elm offers, well take a look at several of its competitors that cost roughly the same. read more →

Sony Ericsson Elm Review

Performance:One of the things the Sony Ericsson Elm is really good at is… calls. While we cannot rate it as perfect, the in-call quality is excellent on both ends of the line and we do not have any major complaints. Our callers sounded loud, clear and realistic and rated the quality as really good as well. The handset comes with Noise Shield, an option that should filter the environmental sounds around you, but frankly, people on the other end didn’t find any difference. read more →

  • Above average functionality
  • Capable camera
  • Robust battery
  • Eco-friendly features
  • Lack of proper video playback support
  • Poor accessory pack
  • Trial navigational software

Sony Ericsson Elm

Sony Ericsson's latest eco-friendly handset abounds with apps, in an effort to be a best-of-both-worlds phone. But the Elm still feels like a compromise. Sony Ericsson's Elm aims to woo eco-conscious folks with its green credentials, but many will view its "eco-friendly" apps as mere gimmickry. Thankfully, the handset is lifted from the compost heap by a competent camera, decent music features and useful GPS integration, as well as easy-to-access social-networking widgets. read more →

  • Social-networking fans will approve of the Facebook and Twitter widgets
  • useful GPS functionality
  • speedy HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity
  • FM radio included.
  • Proprietary headphone jack means you can't use your own cans
  • user interface is often sluggish
  • small screen.
