So, there we are at the restaurant at the end of the Galaxy. It's more of a sweet shop though and the next thing on the list of the specials will be donuts. But that won't be on the Samsung I7500 Galaxy shift. Enough fooling around though, it's time to tell the Galaxy there's no such thing as free lunch.
On other counts, the Galaxy takes full advantage of the ambitious OS. You can take the entire net with you and all the Google services. read more →
- Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support
- 3G with HSDPA 7.2 Mbps and HSUPA 5.76Mbps
- Android OS v1.5 (codenamed Cupcake) without customizations
- 3.2" capacitive AMOLED touchscreen of HVGA resolution
- Qualcomm MSM72000A 528MHz CPU, 128MB RAM
- No smart dialing
- Camera features are a bit outdated
- No videocalling
- No multi-touch gestures
- No Flash support in the web browser (coming soon via the Open Screen Project)
The problem for the Galaxy is others have already shown us what's possible with Android, with Archos, HTC and Motorola already skinning Android to the nines to create a plethora of new functionality.
Samsung has done precisely nothing with the Android OS for the i7500 Galaxy, and it now shows when we've been spoilt by the Sense UI on the Hero. In fact, the phone's main saving grace is the fact it's packing Android, which is an awesome OS, as without it this would probably be among Samsung's worst touchscreen phones. read more →
- Vibrant OLED screen
- Good OS
- fairly feature-rich
- 8GB onboard storage
- Abysmal battery life
- unreliable 3.5mm headphone jack
- annoying lock key system
Our final verdict is that Samsung has not done its best with the Galaxy I7500. However, it still packs a good workmanship, beautiful AMOLED display and decent 5-megapixel camera. These will definitely attract followers, but some people will be dissuaded from getting the phone due to the unhandy alignment of the navigational buttons and the mediocre in-call quality. As a whole, the Samsung Galaxy I7500 stands a chance in the impending battle against the HTC Magic. read more →
- Really good display
- The thinnest Android handset to date
- Good camera quality
- 3.5mm jack
- 8GB built-in memory
- Mediocre in-call quality
- Unhandy navigational buttons
- Nothing new in terms of the interface
- Video capture at low resolutions and quality
Samsung has brought some crave-worthy hardware features to its first Android handset, the Galaxy I7500, like a gorgeous screen, good camera and plenty of onboard memory. But it runs on the bog-standard version of Android, which means it lacks multitouch and fun custom widgets like we've seen on other phones. Overall, the Galaxy fails to reach the heady heights of the HTC Hero, but it's a strong competitor to the HTC Magic. The Samsung Galaxy I7500 can march down the main street of Android Ville with its head held high, thanks to its stunning AMOLED screen, 5-megapixel camera with LED light, 8GB of onboard memory, and snappy, responsive user interface. read more →
