BlackBerry Bold 9780 review: Business as usual

The BlackBerry Bold 9780 is a pretty solid RIM device. Just like the Bold 9700 before it, the 9780 gives you excellent build quality, smooth performance and the corporate grade email and data security. If this is the kind of phone you are looking for, you might as well stop reading right here.

However, if the security levels of the Blackberry Enterprise server arent a must, there are probably better options for you. read more →

BlackBerry Bold 9790 review: Bold and the budget

The question on everyone's mind must be how the Bold 9790 will coexist with the Bold 9900. And they're not asking nicely either. People are fuming in the comments and most of them seem to see no point in having two so very similar handsets released fairly soon after one another.

What it means is the flagship's been paid due respect. The Bold 9900 enjoyed its well-deserved head start. It had its place in the spotlight as the carrier of the new BlackBerry OS 7, the first of the family to cross the 1GHz clock mark and the first to have a VGA screen. read more →

Will the addition of BlackBerry 6 operating system breathe new life into RIM's flagship phone?

The BlackBerry Bold 9780 is a worthy upgrade to RIM's flagship range. The new operating system is a significant improvement, making the phone more relevant to the wider market than anything that's come before.

While we're still not too sure about the size of the keyboard, there's no denying that this does what BlackBerry does best – integrated messaging – and then some. It's a far better internet and media experience than ever before, and social networking addicts are well taken care of, too. read more →

    • Powerful messaging
    • Improved media section
    • Excellent new Home screen
    • Great new web browser
    • Better social networking functions
    • OS would be best on touchscreen
    • Keyboard was a little small for us
    • Signal strength wasn't too good
    • Some interface areas still a bit plain

BlackBerry Bold 9780: Not So Bold

You'll notice this review is shorter than our usual smartphone reviews. The reason, as I’ve already mentioned a couple of times in the article, is quite simple: the Bold 9780 brings absolutely nothing new to the table in terms of hardware, and even the core software is more than half a year old. When you think about the fact that the 9780 is physically identical to the almost 18-month-old 9700 with just a RAM/camera upgrade (plus the fact that the 9700 can also be updated to BlackBerry OS 6 itself), that's pretty slow moving for a competitive market. read more →

    awesummm phone !!!

It the most awesome phone I have come across, I really hate touch phones, and 9780 is the best deal in type phones. Battrey backup is just excellent, n it gives a class to the person carrying it. It is so much in such price!!! How ever the biggest turn-off is no video calling and if it goes out of signal area, getting the signal back is a tough job, might need restarting or even booting the device.

    • Good battery.
    • Great looks
    • Convenient keys lay out
