Nokia Asha 501
Excellent option at this price range and specifications. Much, much better than the contemporary low-cost Android phones. Pros - Lovely and refreshing OS, smooth touchscreen, silky UI, sturdy build (Nokia, after all), changeable back cover, modern look. Cons - The buttons are somewhat loose, the store disappointing. Go for this phone only if you're not some app-freak who needs apps like water. Overall, it's worth buying.

Got this phone a couple of days back, Built is awesome, and feels reassuring in the hand especially due to the poly-carbonate plastic. Design is simple and looks cute. Display is OK nt great but could have been better. UI is brilliant and feel its best for this price range, a no frills ui, runs smooth , well optimized . an BETTER THAN ANDROID at this price range, basically don't expect the phone to do miracles, its for telephony, basic social networking and now even whats app is supported, and basic Games, don't expect to play NFS :P Camera is above average, now with 503 it'll b better, Flash is missed, Battery life , easily two days ,even with heavy usage , tell me an Android that does that... So the Asha 501 is a Cute phone especially for a young first timer , who is buying his/her first phone, its a jack of all trades , and doesn't let u down... and Flipkart and WS Retail are Awesome as usual :)

Asha 501 - Detailed Review
Its been 3 days I've been using this mobile. Here are my observations: 1.Design: It has got a hard glass and back shell cover is also rock solid. so need not worry even your mobile falls down. It has got 6 colors, so you can easily interchange the shell cases, but u need to buy them separately they are not included in the box. At the back there will be a spot of the orignal handset that you'll purchase, so beware of it and chose wisely the original handset that you purchase. If you purchase a black color handset, there will be black color hotspot at the back of the shell cover, so when you put any other case say, red the black button will be there visible. It has got only one BACK button, so rest is all depended on the touch. two volume keys and a phone lock button. 2. Software: It comes up with asha new os platform, which has fast lane swipe and wonderful touch xperience. believe me the touch feel is outstanding given its budget range. sometimes, the fast lane switch may be troubling you, expecially when ur playing games or browsing or any other activity. In terms of apps, don't xpect much, if you were android user, its more of a basic stuff in terms of apps since it is a java based os. it has interesting alarm clock and reminders in the fast lane that will be helpful. 3. Camera. it has a 3.2 megapixel cam.Its more of a basic camera, it doesn't offer that much. but still takes reasonable pictures. There are other cam in this budget that offer good quality. 4. Battery: Nokia declared it will last for 47 days stand by, 17hrs talktime 2g. and 56 hrs of music playback. but after my continuous usage of exploring my new mobile it lasted for only 1 and half day. I guess it will easily come for 2-3 days for a moderate user. Still a good battery. 5. Memory: 128mb memory, 4gb included in the box. performance wise there was no lagging. 6. Screen resolution: Screen resolution is very low 240*320. It was disappointing..no matter how good quality of videos you watch its the same pixel u view it. 7. Message typing. Since the screen is small, while typing a message it could be difficult for the fingers(huge sizes). My fingers are heavy, so finding it difficult to type, but once we get addicted to the keyboard it's ok but not comfortable. Overall, good looking phone with basic feature, good battery and feel good touch interface..but don't xpect too much from this phone, you'll definitely be satisfied with it. If you are having a huge xpectations from this java phone, better skip it.
