One Stop Shop
I am a engineer and had suffered loss of my old laptop Acer 5738G. This time I was looking for rather sleek,light and fast working laptop and my search ended here. As I did not want to spend much this time(Because I have to pay on my own ;)) I was more keen in buying a netbook that would help me with regular office work,entertainment(movies n music) and net browsing. I searched on and on through different stores and finally decided to buy this machine without OS. However I installed Win 8 pro and machine is silky smooth and to my surprise it comes with graphic card to support Games and HD videos. Its a complete package at this price if you are not that much of a gaming freak. But battery backup is not up to the mark they claim. For a traveler who does not want to carry heavy load this is an amazing laptop. Built quality is also good. In the end its your call scrutinize your priorities and then go for it(if your req. matches mine).

Affordable Light-weight Laptop
I purchased this laptop form Flipkart and have been using it for a month now. While writing the review, I would like to mention the following points: Flipkart service: I purchased the laptop in Delhi and the shipment was delivered after four days. I had to make several phone calls to the courier as the status was showing "undelivered as the door was locked" for two days in the website while the courier never actually arrived. Anyway, I received it in one piece at the end. About the laptop: I have installed Windows-7 (it came with DOS) and the system is running flawlessly till now after installing drivers from Lenovo website (I am coming to this point later) Pros: 1. Very light-weight and slim...really good looking one. Lenovo s400 can be easily categorized as low-cost ultrabook. 2. Very good key board. I can type for hours. 3. Switchable graphics: Intel HD 3000 (shared with system RAM) and dedicated AMD Radeon. The switching can be done by AMD Catalyst software downloaded from Lenovo website. 4. Speakers are better than average laptops in this price range. Cons: 1. Build quality is not that convincing 2. After installing the software I used mostly (like matlab and other simulation tools, image editing software like photoshop), the first thing I noticed is the laptop is underpowered. Even if the processor is Ci3, only 1.4GHz (with 2GB RAM) is not good enough for heavy usage. However, the system is OK for web surfing, document editing and watching movies/videos. Most of the 1080p movies will run smoothly in KM player with the base configuration it came with (you may notice occasional framing if you select Intel HD 3000 graphics inbuilt in the board) 3. I had to replace the RAM with a DDR3-1333 4GB one to improve its processing power. There is only one slot and you have to replace the 2GB RAM. Changing the RAM is bit tricky for this laptop (there are some video tutorials available online). 4. The laptop did not come with driver DVD and the drivers downloaded form Lenovo website will add up to 3 to 4 GB. So, try to have a better internet connection... :) 5. I had a tough time while installing AMD graphics in Windows-7. After installation, the system was entering into 'blue-screen-of-death' with each reboot. Later I figured out from several forums that it was due to incompatibility of .NET version installed in your system. Please update to the latest version of .NET if you want to install W7. 6. The screen is bit glossier to my preference. 7. The battery back-up will not at all match the claim in website. Initially it was very less. After overcharging the laptop for several days now I get around 3 hr with moderate usage (wi-fi ON) and brightness set to 3 (in a scale of 10). 8. No VGA port, no CD/DVD drive (might be problematic for some users) I will make the laptop dual boot (W7/linux) for my work and hope every thing goes well after that. I wanted to give 3.5 rating, but it seems i can only give 3 or 4. I hope this helps....
