Worth every penny
Well all I can say is that for the price point this laptop is the very best you can get in terms of performance and design. The main competitors in this price segment are the Msi GL65, Asus TUF A15, Lenovo Y540,etc and this beast right here easily beats them in almost every aspect. Display- Most laptops in this price range have a IPS level display but the Helios is the only one that stands out with a full IPS display with an amazing 144Hz panel. This display is sensational, the visuals while watching videos and games is as stunning as it gets at 1080p resolution. The display panel is very strong, even when room fans are at high speed the panel stays stable, does not shake and holds its own. It's quality looking and has the strength and durability to match it. Even with V-Sync off in the majority of the games there are no stutters. Overall 10/10. The panel is as good as even a 3 lakh laptop panel at 1080p. Design- Now this area is quite subjective and depends on personal preferences but for me this laptop's design is premium, high quality and feels like an expensive laptop rather than an average cheap plastic body. This laptop is made of metal and aluminium in 95% of the body, the back panel with the Predator logo and blue design is truly amazing. I got no complaints, if you're spending a lakh upwards for a laptop it should look sexy and feel expensive and you get that with this laptop. 9/10. Battery- The battery charge time is surprisingly less than I expected from a gaming laptop. It charges rather quickly and quite fast. The battery life depends on the tasks you're doing but for normal office work a full charge can last 5-6 hours, if you're watching videos and movies it can last anywhere for 3-4 hours which is fairly impressive. Gaming life is ok, it can last for an hour but for gaming even a fool would understand that you always need to be plugged in for top performance. RAM - 16 GB RAM is the sweet spot these days and you don't need anything more than that especially if you're focus is just gaming and normal multi tasking. If you aren't satisfied you can upgrade to 32 GB RAM. Processor/ CPU performance- The Helios 300 comes in 2 variants with the I7 and 9th Gen I5. I have the i5 variant and honestly it's a super powerful processor that does a great job for gaming and multi tasking. If you're primary focus and tasks involve a lot of hyper threading work or don't mind spending extra then go for the i7. Although for gaming there's barely a 2% difference between the processors. You're simply paying a bit more for an extra 2-3 FPS in gaming. If you're a gamer I'd save the money, buy the I5 and spend the remaining money purchasing more games on Steam. There's no compromise in terms of gaming and multi tasking and the i5 9300H has performance levels better than a I7 7th gen and almost equal to a higher variant of i7-8th Gen. So if you've just got money to splash and do tasks that are very processor intense and involve extreme hyper threading go for i7 otherwise be smart and save money buying the i5. Gaming/ GPU performance- The RTX 2060 is a superb graphics card if you're focus is just 1080p gaming and not connecting your laptop to a 4k monitor. It can handle every game at ultra settings at 1080p and works sensational. In 2020 this is a superb card for gaming. I'm playing Red Dead Redemption 2 at full ultra settings at 40fps which is good for AAA titles and if I tweak it a bit with a mix of High and Ultra it hits 60fps plus. This is the only game since it is poorly optimized that it doesn't hit 50fps at ultra but be rest assured for at least 3 years you will be able to play games at ultra above 50 FPS maybe not with ray tracing on but it depends game to game. With better updates and drivers of 2060 it should be finely optimized for ray tracing as well. But for the remainder of your life at 1080p you will be future proof for even 7-8 years at high settings for 1080p since the evolution of 1080p gaming is over. Now the focus is on 4k gaming and 1080p in the future won't be any better than it already is. Ultra settings for 3 years all games and more depending on the game. But at high- med settings for the remainder of your life you can game at 1080p with a great FPS count. Apart from RDR 2 all recent AAA titles and Multiplayer titles run well above 60 FPS maxed settings. ALSO this RTX 2060 is not just a normal laptop RTX 2060. This RTX 2060 is OVERCLOCKABLE with TURBO MODE ON! This means if you turn on the Turbo Mode of this laptop it overclockes and becomes equivalent in performance to a desktop RTX 2060 which is CRAZY. At ultra I have seen RDR 2 jump from 40 to 50 FPS which is INSANE. The only downfall of course is the fan noise will increase so you need to have head sets plugged in while gaming in Turbo mode. Temperatures while gaming don't exceed more than 86 degrees Celsius. It ranges between 80-85 degrees not more than that which is fine and safe for gaming. If you turn on the Air conditioner then you can see them fall below 80 as well between 75-80. If you turn Turbo Mode on then there is 3-4 degree temperature drop due to high fan speed and on top of that you turn the AC on that's the icing on the cake. Use a cooling pad beneath and further 3-4 degrees drop. I'm gaming RDR 2 at Ultra Settings at 73-75 degrees temps while Turbo mode on and cooling pad underneath which is amazing. If you're temps are going above 90-95 then give laptop for replacement as some people were having temperature problems. For me this didn't occur. Storage- the 1tb 7400 rpm disk is good enough and the 255 GB SSD is just next level. I store the game I am currently playing in the SSD and once I'm not playing that game I move it back to the HDD. The reload and transfer rates are crazy good on this SSD. The OS boots up in 5-10 seconds. I recommend to partition the SSD in 2 parts. 1 part for the OS and the other for gaming. You can't partition more than 160gb on the SSD for the 2nd partition. Also I recommend updating the system with all drivers and windows update till 2004 version after that go to Disk Cleanup and clean everything including previous system files and installations and you'll save a ton of space. And you'll be good to go. I'm satisfied with my storage and there's an additional slot for an SSD so in the future I'll be upgrading the storage. Lastly, the sound quality is OK nothing special but still decent enough. 7/10 for sound. Finally GO FOR IT! You won't regret this decision and this is BY FAR THE BEST at this price segment.
