After testing it out for a couple of months, Xiaomi has started rolling out the latest Android Nougat-based MIUI 8.2 Global Stable ROM for a select few of the company’s smartphones.

The existing users of such phone would receive the update either over-the-air (OTA) or via the updater app. However, if that does not work, one can manually update through MIUI forum too.

As of yet, Mi 5 is the only one from the Xiaomi roster to have got the stable update, while the other ones including Mi Max/Mi Max Prime, Mi 4i, Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi Note, Redmi 1S and Redmi Note 4G were updated on a beta build and stand to receive it in a day or two’s time.

The remaining phones from the company, on the other hand, will get privy to the update gradually starting from February 20th.

The supposed list of phones getting the list has surprised many as it is without some notable ones (read: Redmi Note 3 and Redmi Note 4) but rest assured, they will be in on the game soon, probably after the first batch is rolled out.

Another major thing that is missing with the update is that it does not have a smart assistant available for the MIUI 8.2 China ROM. The company has, however, stated that it intends to release it tomorrow.
