Xiaomi Redmi Y2 India Launch Expected On June 7

Xiaomi has teased the launch of a new Redmi phone on June 7 in India through its social media channels in the country. There is no formal declaration but the company’s tagline -“The Best Selfie Smartphone”, suggests it to be the Redmi S2 that was announced in China last week.

However, chances are Xiaomi may rebrand the phone for the Indian market as the Redmi Y2, which will succeed last year Redmi Y1. The teaser comes one day ahead of Oppo’s Realme 1 launch, and no wonder Xiaomi is promoting it with #RealYou and #FindYourSelfie hashtag.

Xiaomi Redmi Y2 Features

The Redmi S2, that Xiaomi launched in China last week, is expected to be introduced as Redmi Y2 in India.

The major highlights of Redmi S2 aka Redmi Y2 IS its selfie camera – a 16MP shooter with soft LED flash and AI beauty. The handset includes a 5.99-inch full vision display, and Android Oreo-based MIUI 9.

The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 625 SoC, coupled with up to 4GB of RAM and up to 64GB storage space, which is expandable up to 256GB via microSD card. For photography, the Redmi Y2 boasts of dual (12MP+ 5MP) sensors.

The Redmi Y2 also has 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, 3.5mm headphone jack, and Micro-USB port and packs a 3080mAh battery.

Xiaomi Redmi Y2 Price and Availability [Expected]

The Xiaomi Redmi Y2 or Redmi S2 will be priced in the Indian market at a budget price. In China, the phone has been priced at 999 yuan (roughly to Rs. 10,560) for its 3GB RAM variant and 1299 yuan (roughly to Rs. 13,735) for the 4GB RAM variant. There, the phone is available for sale in Rose gold, Champagne Gold, and Platinum Silver color options.
