Redmi Note 5 Pro, which was first introduced in India last month, has now been launched in China as simply Redmi Note 5. In Xiaomi’s home country, the Note 5 will retail for a starting price of RBM 1099 that converts to roughly Rs. 11,000. However, there are a few crucial differences between the models launched in China and India. (हिंदी में पढ़े)

Redmi Note 5 Pro in China vs Redmi Note 5 Pro in India: What’s different?

in China, the Redmi Note 5 is an upgraded version of Redmi Note 5 Pro launched in India. It includes Android Oreo, Faster Quick Charge 3.0 charging, and a brighter f/1.9 aperture lens and bigger pixels (1.4-micrometers vs 1.25-micrometer) for the primary rear camera.

In comparison, The Redmi Note 5 Pro in India comes with Quick Charge 2.0, has a f/2.2 aperture lens, and will be running Android Nougat based software out of the box for at least a few more months. Xiaomi has also added a 3GB RAM and 32GB storage option for Redmi Note 5 Pro in China.

But it isn’t all bad. The selfie module on the China variant has 13MP camera unlike the 20MP sensor in the Indian variant.

Other than that, most other features including the semi-metal unibody design and Type-A micro USB port remain same.

Out of the three omissions, Android Oreo is expected to be available for Indian buyers as well sometime later. However, the ROM in China comes with Project treble support and there are good chances that this might not make it to the Indian variant even after the Oreo update.

Xiaomi also talked about AI improving camera performance and portrait mode for the China variant, but that shouldn’t make much of a difference. Perhaps the AI tech is also available for the variant in India or will be passed on with an OTA update later.
