Xiaomi has had a fairly aggressive run in 2016 and seems to have no intentions of slowing down. Following the trend, Xiaomi takes the wraps off its much-anticipated Redmi Note 4 in China. The Redmi Note 3 (review) successor comes in two variants – a 2GB RAM with 16GB storage version is priced at 899 Yuan (Rs 9,000 approximately), while the 3GB RAM and 64GB storage variant is priced at 1,199 Yuan (Rs 12,000 approximately).

The newly launched Note series phone takes design cues from Redmi Note 3, and further refines it. It sports an aluminum unibody with some noticeable changes in antenna lines and mi5 like chamfered edges. Xiaomi has added a 2.5D curved glass on the front. The back remains flat like its predecessor and is studded with symmetrically placed camera module, LED flash and the circular fingerprint scanner. It comes with a hybrid SIM slot (Micro SIM + Nano SIM/ microSD) which is placed on the left edge of the phone.

It houses a 5.5-inch full HD display up front that targets 72 percent NTSC color gamut and offers 1000:1 contrast ratio. Xiaomi has once again relied on a MediaTek chipset for the Chinese variants. The Redmi Note 4 is powered by a deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 SoC ticking at 2.1GHz, coupled with Mali-T880MP4 GPU. It comes with 2GB / 3GB RAM and 16GB / 32GB ROM. Storage can be expanded up to 128 GB.

In the optics section, Xiaomi has roped in a 13-megpixel primary snapper along with LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, and PDAF support. On the front, there is a 5-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture, and 85-degree wide-angle lens.

Out of the box, the handset is running Android 6.0 Marshmallow wrapped under MIUI 8 which offers features like reading mode and night mode, Scrolling Screenshot, Wallpaper Carousel and much more. Aided by 4,100mAh battery it supports 4G with VoLTE support, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
