Redmi Go: What makes this entry-level phone unique?

The highlight of the Redmi Go is Google’s Android Go (8.1 Oreo Edition) software. Android Go is a trimmed down version of Stock Android that’s specifically optimized for its low-end hardware. Redmi Go features an ecosystem of Go series of apps downloadable from the Play store. They are the “lite” version of Google’s popular apps meant to run on low-end devices.

Apart from these, you could also download the lite versions of popular apps like Facebook Lite, Messenger Lite, Twitter Lite, Ola lite, Uber Lite, Tiktok Lite, Mint (browser) Lite, etc from the Google Play store. So, you could use all of these without pushing the device’s hardware limits.

Redmi Go also facilitates installing the apps or transferring the app data directly to external storage. Out of the box, you get 1GB RAM and 8GB onboard storage, expandable up to 128GB using a (dedicated) MicroSD card.

Another nifty feature of the phone would be its support for multiple (20+) Indian languages. It also features Dual-mic noise reduction for better call experience.

Redmi Go sports a 5-inch HD display with a 1,280 x 720 resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio. This also supports ambient display and night sight. It comes with an 8MP rear camera (with LED flash) and 5MP Auto-HDR enabled front camera. It offers 1080p video recording too.

Under the hood, Redmi Go is fueled by a 3000mAh battery. Endurance shouldn’t be a problem, thanks to the optimized software and low-power hungry hardware combo. The power adapter bundled within the box could handle spikes up to 380V to withstand power fluctuations.
