Launched back in August 2018, the much-anticipated successor to Xiaomi Mi A1, the Mi A2 has seen its price slashed yet again in India. Now, this camera-centric smartphone is available effectively from Rs. 13,999 for the base variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, down from its launch price of Rs 16,999. As for its higher variant, the price has been brought down to Rs. 15,999 from its initial price of Rs. 18,999.

Does Xiaomi Mi A2 Make Sense After the Price Cut?

Mi A2 is the second Xiaomi smartphone under Google’s Android One programme. This makes it a suitable alternative for Xiaomi fans who are looking for software experience different than MIUI. Stock Android brings with it the benefits of fluid performance, minimalist software experience, and security. It runs on Android Pie 9.0.

Mi A2 sports a 5.99-inch FHD+ 18:9 display, is powered by Snapdragon 660 chipset, and a 3010mAh battery. Though it ditches the 3.5mm headphone jack and expandable storage support compared to Mi A1, the device is an upgrade in other aspects, especially in the camera department.

The device has a dual camera setup of 12 and 20 megapixels sensors at the rear. Like their predecessor, Mi A1, the rear camera is capable of capturing portrait shots, coupled with AI integration for intelligent scene detection. In terms of front camera, Xiaomi did a major bump to the 20-megapixel Sony IMX376 sensor with soft LED flash and AI beautification. Xiaomi has embedded pixel binning technology, by which information from four pixels is combined to create one large 2.0µm pixel.

Overall, the camera and stock android remain the primary highlight of Mi A2 and are still viable reasons for you to consider it. The limited battery backup is its primary drawback.
