More news has trickled in regarding the recently released (only in China though) Xiaomi flagship – the Mi 6 – and this time talks about its launch in the country, which as India Today puts it, may not take place at all.

They received a tipoff from a source which has confirmed that the Mi 6 will not be able to see the light of the day in India and that the company intends to bring out some other flagship phone here.

The Mi 6: Not coming to India

Continuing with the context, they said that this ‘new’ flagship device could actually be the Mi Mix 2 or the Mi Note 2, thus keeping up with the company’s strategy of bringing out only one flagship per year on Indian shores.

While the predecessors of both the phones (which are being worked upon currently) are yet to hit the markets in India, odds are in the favor that one of the two may actually arrive here. Chances are also rife that Xiaomi may decide to launch a completely new flagship device altogether.

Any which way, it is clear that the Mi 6 is not actually coming to the Indian market.

Amongst the reasons that are being cited behind the decision of keeping the Mi 6 outside the Indian periphery (apart from the one flagship a year strategy, that is) is the company’s open unwillingness to dish out true flagships here.

Self-admittedly, Xiaomi does not want to do away with the ‘affordable’ tangent here, and some of these devices may get considered to be too expensive for the Indian buyers.

It is worthwhile to mention here that Xiaomi’s single flagship annually rule has put it in spot of bother before too, as was seen by the reception its toned down Mi 5 received, forcing even Hugo Barra to admit that “it was a mistake not bringing the 64gig Xiaomi Mi 5 to India”.

Needless to say this is bad news for Xiaomi enthusiasts in the country who had their eyes set on the Mi 6.
