Xiaomi-backed Black Shark 2 hits Indian shores today with top-rung specs and features befitting a gaming flagship. This new phone brings the power of Snapdragon 855 coupled with up to 12GB RAM, 256GB storage and 4000mAh battery. However, those are least of the exciting features it carries as a gaming gizmo. This is touted to have the best DPS (Display Postscript) ever.

Black Shark 2 Gaming Features

Like any other gaming device, this one also carries a Liquid Cool 3.0 vapor chamber cooling system for heat dissipation. The company claims a 14°C reduction in the chipset temperature, thanks to this. This would be further aided by a Cooling Case and a fan that is expected to lower the temperature by another 5°C.

To spruce up your gaming experience, you could buy Xiaomi’s all-new GamePad 3.0, which transforms the phone into a console like the Nintendo Switch. It enables an HDMI output and buttons on either side of the phone. There is a Ludicrous mode which takes care of thermal throttling and AI optimization for the CPU/GPU, the network and even charging speed.

Black Shark 2 boasts two front-firing stereo speakers to immerse into the game’s aural elements. Alas, the experience could have been better with a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Since display plays a big part in any gaming adventure, Black Shark 2 employs a 6.39-inch HDR enabled Full HD+ AMOLED screen. This panel is optimized for pressure sensitivity and better latency. The company bets on its display prowess due to its improved color accuracy, reduced screen flicker at low brightness, and low touch latency at 43.5ms.

It has a Magic Press feature that lets you assign pressure-sensitive controls to the left and right side of the screen. Xiaomi claims to have calibrated the color dynamics and accuracy of the display.

Upfront, you get an in-display fingerprint sensor to unlock the device. Coming to cameras, Xiaomi has placed a 20MP selfie camera and a 48MP (F/1.75) Quad Bayer sensor at back. This rear camera is backed by a 12MP secondary sensor for 2x telephoto zoom.

Black Shark 2 Pricing and availability

Xiaomi India has priced Black Shark 2 starting at Rs. 39,999 for the 6/128GB model going up to Rs. 49,999 for the 12/256GB version. This time around, Black Shark 2 has brought a new Frozen Silver color version exclusive to the 8/256GB model.
