Tata Sierra is one such upcoming launch that has many people including myself on the edge of their seats. The legendary Sierra name is now being put in a modern SUV, which is expected to come in both ICE and electric powertrains. The Tata Sierra was first showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo or the Auto Expo back in February this year.

Since we are inching closer to the year end and the official unveil of the Tata Sierra, I am quite excited to see what the car has to offer. Will Tata do justice to the Sierra name or will this also be just another modern, fragile SUV that the new Safari has come to be known as. In this article, I will tell you everything that we are expected to get with the upcoming Tata Sierra and what you should also be looking out for. Let’s go.

Tata Sierra Launch Details And Powertrains

Now Tata has been very clear from the get-go about their plans to bring the Sierra in both EV and ICE options. This means that there is something for everyone in terms of people and their preferred fuel of choice. While it was earlier said that the EV will be the first one to arrive to our shores, it is not the case anymore. According to recent reports, Tata will bring the internal combustion engine option first in November 2025 and then the EV is expected to follow in early 2026.

Tata Sierra To Debut Tata’s New Petrol Engine

The one thing that excites me most about the upcoming Tata Sierra is the petrol engine it will introduce. For years now, Tata’s SUVs – the Harrier and Safari, have been coming with only diesel options. In my opinion, that has been a limiting factor in terms of pushing volumes with these cars, since petrol cars have a longer end of life cycle as compared to diesel.

The Tata Sierra is said to come in two petrol options – a 1.5 litre 4 cylinder naturally aspirated engine, and another 1.5 lite turbocharged petrol engine. The naturally-aspirated unit is expected to power the lower-end variants, helping Tata achieve a competitive pricing. The tubo petrol engine is said to offer up to 170 bhp of power at 5,000 rpm and a peak torque of 280Nm. Both the petrol offerings will be E20 compliant as per reports.

The diesel offering, however, is expected to be a familiar 2 litre 4 cylinder turbo engine which also powers the Taata Harrier and Tata Safari. This engine produces 170 bhp of power and 350Nm of torque.

Tata Sierra Features And Tech – First Tata With 3 Screens

In terms of features, the Tata Sierra is expected to come with a triple screen dashboard. The triple screen layout was also teased during the Bharat Mobility Expo in February earlier this year. The three screens will include a digital instrument cluster, an infotainment display, and a third screen for the passenger.

Other features apart from the triple screen layout include level 2 ADAS, front and rear parking sensors, 360-degree camera – which can also include an under-body camera like the Harrier EV. Further, we are expecting a Dolby Atmos-powered surround sound system. Safety features will include 6 airbags, ESP, ESC, EBD, ABS, tyre pressure monitor, hill descent control, traction control, and more.
