The 5G network rollout has kickstarted in India, and in the first phase, cities like Varanasi, Hyderabad, Delhi, and Mumbai have got accessibility. Airtel and Jio have claimed that they will achieve pan-India 5G connectivity by the end of the first quarter of 2024.

Now, while a majority of the Indian audience already has 5 G-supporting smartphones, still, they are unable to take advantage of the network because the software update to activate 5G access is not pending from the manufacturer’s side.

For example, as of now, the Vo5G or the VoNR feature is only available in the Samsung Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy S21 series, and a few phones from the Oppo Reno 6 series and above. On the other hand, Airtel has already published a list regarding the phones that will support its 5G network currently.

These devices are from different brands like iQOO, Xiaomi, Realme, OPPO, Vivo, Samsung, etc. However, that information is for Android devices; what if you are an iPhone user? Well, there is some news for you that you’ll like to know regarding the 5G networking capability of iPhones.

What’s brewing?

A report from Economic Times has suggested that Apple is all set to introduce the 5G update for iPhones by December 2022. At the time, the 5G connectivity was being tested for the iPhones. All the iPhones above iPhone 12 will come with 5G network support. It has also been mentioned in the report that the senior executives from both Airtel and Apple are going to meet this week to put a stamp on the launch timeline of 5G update for the iPhones.

The Indian government will also ask companies like Apple, Samsung, and others to roll out updates supporting 5G connectivity at priority. To recall, the 5G services were launched in India on October 1, 2022, at the India Mobile Congress. Jio has offered the beta trial of the 5G network to select customers from four cities, including Delhi, Hyderabad, Varanasi, and Kolkata. These users also have got the opportunity to get unlimited 5G data until the testing ends.
