Last week, WhatsApp released Meta AI for Indian users. With the chatbot, users can perform several tasks, including answering various topics, generating messages for professional/personal use, or translating one language to another. Now, the messaging platform is working on another AI-based feature that will let users create AI avatars of themselves in different scenarios.

Imagine Yourself In Different Avatars Using Meta AI On WhatsApp

Imagine yourself as anything on WhatsApp

According to a report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will let users make “AI-generated images” of them. As seen in the screenshot shared by the publication, the feature will allow users to take photos of themselves once and then ask Meta AI to generate AI images of them. The feature was spotted in a new beta version for Android.

The feature’s introductory prompt is: “Imagine yourself as anything. Take photos of yourself once, then imagine yourself in any setting, from the forest to outer space.” As and when the feature arrives for users, they’ll have to type “Imagine me…” in the Meta AI chat and wait for the chatbot to come up with an image. Alternatively, users can tag Meta AI in a group chat, followed by the “imagine me…” command.

The Feature Will Increase The Time Users Spend On WhatsApp

With the feature, users will be able to create interesting and fun images of themselves. It could be to cheer up a friend, to imagine oneself in the role of a movie star, or just to start a conversation in a group chat. While image generation via Meta AI is already available on WhatsApp, we believe that the company has trained its text-to-image model in a specific way so that it will generate more pictures based on the one used for setup.

Clearly, the feature is a way for WhatsApp to increase the time users spend on the app. The integration of Meta AI was also in the same direction, and now the ability to generate different AI avatars also does the same. Such a feature is also available on the popular photo and video-sharing platform Snapchat.

Users Will Have Full Control On The AI Avatar Feature

The WhatsApp updates tracker also highlights how users will retain full control over the feature, as they can delete the setup pictures at any given point. Further, the resulting image will always be shared in the desired conversation, whether it is a one-to-one chat with Meta AI or a group chat. Last but not least, users will be able to enable/disable this feature in the app’s settings.
