Hyundai has officially confirmed to launch its highly anticipated IONIQ 5 electric car in India in the second half of 2022. Since it is launched globally, we already know most things about the upcoming ev:
The upcoming Hyundai Ioniq 5 will be a milestone of brand's BEV expansion target in India and will be built on new E-GMP platform integrating company's four key ideas – Modularity, Reliability, Usability, and Performance.
The Ioniq 5 will arrive in two battery packs – 72.6kWh to offer 481km range and a 58kWh for a claimed mileage of 385km. The 2WD model will produce 217hp power and 350Nm torque while the other AWD can generate 305hp and 605Nm torque.
The IONIQ 5 will support a 350kW DC charger capable for fast charging feature. It is claimed to go from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes and a 5 minute charge can provide a distance range of up to 100km.
The EV features a sporty silhouette, U-designed dual LED headlamp, pixel LED taillights, 20-inch alloy wheels, shark fin antenna, and integrated spoiler. It has been globally presented in nine colour variants.
It comes with a futuristic modular dashboard including a 12.25-inch touch-screen infotainment panel and a 12.25-inch digital cluster. The seat upholstery offers three colour themes to choose from.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 is said to arrive as CKD (Completely KnockDown) units to get assembled in India. While the EV is slated to be launched in October 2022, it could be priced at Rs 35-45 lakhs.
