Volkswagen has gone a step further in providing features on its fleet of Taigun SUV and Virtus sedan as the car maker has since included six airbags on its models. In fact, this update has not had any factor to cause an increase in the prices, therefore placing the products at an affordable range to its consumers. This is similar to what Skoda has been doing recently in a bid to make an equipment like six airbags a standard on models such as Kushaq and Slavia.
Enhanced Safety Features
Earlier, six airbags were offered on the high-end variant of Taigun and Virtus – Topline trims and GT. Before, they are only available in the Comfortline and Highline variants, and on certain limited editions such as the GT Edge, Sport, or Sound.
While other car manufacturers such as Skoda have slightly raised the prices after integrating this safety update, Volkswagen has decided to continue with the current prices. Besides, Volkswagen is still providing customers with a limited time opportunity of buying Comfortline variant of Volkswagen Taigun which comes at the fabulous price of Rs 10.99 lakh, which is around Rs 70,000 lesser than the base price of the car. The Taigun is available for a price range of Rs 10.99 lakh and Rs 20 lakh, while the Virtus ranges from Rs 11.56 lakh to Rs 19.41 lakh.
Despite the fact that the manufacture has downgraded the Taigun and Slavia to the dual airbag variant, it sports a 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP. These models also come equipped with other safety technologies: ESC; a multi-collision braking system; a tyre pressure warning system; brake assist; and traction control.
Like other rivals such as the Creta, Seltos, Elevate, and Kushaq, the Taigun comes equipped with six airbags as standard, meanwhile, some models including the Grand Vitara, Hyryder as well as the Astor do not have this feature. Likewise, the Virtus rivals models such as Verna, City, and Slavia, all of which feature six airbags as standard, with the Ciaz missing out on that list. Moreover, Volkswagen stated that it has sold close to 1 lakh units of the Taigun and Virtus combined. SUV helped account for 61% of those sales: about 40% of the total volume came from the higher-spec GT derivatives.
