Vivo has recently introduced the Vivo V25 series in the Indian market out of which the Pro variant is making the headlines. For the purpose of review, I got the Vivo V25 Pro which no doubt looks premium. Vivo never disappoints the customers when it comes to looks and ergonomics. This time also the brand has tried to offer a fresh design along with a unique camera island.

Talking about the specifications, the smartphone looks quite identical to the recently launched OnePlus Nord 2T as both of them run on the same chipset, yes, I am talking about the MediaTek Dimensity 1300 processor. On top of that, the device has a triple rear camera system that offers amazing photographic output which we will discuss in detail.

I used the smartphone for more than a week and tested most of its features and performance aspects. Here I am sharing a full-fledged review regarding the same so that you can decide if you want to invest your money in the device or not. I’ll talk about all the upsides and downsides of the Vivo V25 Pro based on my usage. The stats that are shared in this review are based on multiple tests conducted on the device.

Vivo V25 Pro pricing and availability

The 8GB RAM variant of the Vivo V25 Pro along with 128GB internal storage is available in the Indian market at a price of Rs 35,999. On the other hand, the 12GB RAM variant paired with 256GB internal storage is available for Rs 39,999.

The smartphone is available in two different colour options – Pure Black and Sailing Blue. The device is up for purchase via Flipkart and all the customers who will purchase the device Kotak, SBI, and ICICI credit and debit cards will also get a 10% cashback.

Vivo V25 Pro review: Unboxing

The Vivo V25 Pro ships in a large silver box with the company’s logo on the front. The storage variant and manufacturing details are on the rear side of the box. The retail box of the Vivo V25 Pro consists of a:

  • Vivo V25 Pro 5G
  • A transparent back cover
  • Type-C USB cable
  • 66W adapter
  • SIM ejector
  • Warranty card and other documents related to smartphone

Vivo V25 Pro review: Design

As soon as you take the smartphone out of the box, you will get mesmerized for sure. I got to review the Sailing Blue colour variant which is eye-catchy for sure. It has a curved glass design coupled with metal edges and a flat bottom. The device can be comfortably carried all day long without any issues due to its perfect ergonomics and not that heavy, 190 grams, weight. The Vivo branding of the smartphone can be spotted at the bottom left corner of the rear panel.

Another major highlight of the smartphone is that it has a color changing rear panel. Though the panel offered this time is completely different from what we have seen in Realme 9 Pro Plus and the Vivo V23 Pro. Keeping that in mind, we can say that the Vivo device clearly fails to offer a better design than its predecessors.

Still, the smartphone does justice to its price in terms of design and looks. The rectangular camera module of the device is placed at the top left corner of the smartphone including two large circular sensors and a third sensor at the border. The power button and volume rockers of the smartphone are placed at the right spine. The speaker grilles, USB Type-C port, and SIM tray are located at the bottom edge of the smartphone.

Vivo V25 Pro review: Display

The Vivo V25 Pro features 6.5-inch curved AMOLED display coupled with a 120Hz refresh rate. Well, trust me when I say that the smartphone offers a flagship-level viewing and streaming experience. Though I personally didn’t like the default colour saturation settings.

However, it can be adjusted according to the user’s presence by changing the colour temperature. While watching the Sandman on Netflix, which is a show shot in a dark theme, I didn’t see any white patches, instead, the screen was perfectly black at that time.

The cherry on the cake is that the display panel of the smartphone supports playing HDR content on Netflix. The panel offers crisp details while watching shows and movies and it has a peak brightness of 1300 nits.

As for the outdoor operations, the smartphone’s auto-brightness works perfectly fine and you’ll find no issues while using it in a high amount of sunlight too. The adaptive refresh rate of the smartphone ranging from 60 to 120Hz adjusts itself according to requirement, thus, resulting in optimized battery consumption.

Vivo V25 Pro review: Performance

The Vivo V25 Pro performs well off-paper as I used the smartphone to perform multiple tasks. The MediaTek Dimensity 1300 processor of the smartphone along with 12GB RAM makes sure that the user faces no heating or lagging issues. I started the testing with an hour-long session of Call of Duty Mobile on the smartphone.

Though I don’t have any problems with the gameplay performance, still, the phone got a little bit heated up while gaming. To enhance the gaming experience, the smartphone also has a dedicated game space that offers features like voice changer, performance modes and shortcuts to take screenshots.

Scores of different tests via multiple platforms

As for the OS, if you are going to use any Android phone then most probably you have to be ready for bloatware. Though we can say that the UI of the smartphone is not bad and has rarely any bugs.

Apart from that, the experience with the FunTouch OS 12 based on the Android 12 operating system was amazing. In some cases, it outperformed my expectation which is rare for a Vivo or Oppo phone. The widgets and shortcuts will be loved by the people who don’t want to open the application drawer every now and then.

Vivo V25 Pro review: Camera

The Vivo V25 Pro sports a triple rear camera setup including a 64MP primary shooter with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), 8MP ultra wide-angle shooter, and a 2MP macro shooter.

At the time of clicking photographs from the rear camera system of the device, I got some of the most breathtaking shots that will crisp and clear details of the subject. Though I can say that the OIS does no or little justice to the videos as compared to the way it is boasted.

One of the most highlighted features of the smartphone was the Super Night portrait. the feature did a commendable job as I took the photographs in low light conditions, irrespective of the lighting, the results were amazing.

The selfies and video calls department of the smartphone is handled by a 32MP front snapper. The output of the sensor was decent I was able to get some selfie shots with natural skin tone. The shots can be enhanced by using the AI-based features offered in the device.

Vivo V25 Pro review: Battery

The Vivo V25 Pro draws power from a 4830mAh battery that also supports 66W fast charging. At the time of testing, the smartphone got completely charged in around 50 to 60 minutes. Now came the battery drainage part, the smartphone loses around 15% to 20% battery when you play have gamed at high graphics settings. On the other hand, the device’s battery drains at a speed of 12% to 15% per hour while streaming videos on YouTube or different OTT platforms.

On average the smartphone lasted for around 15 hours once charged completely. The session consisted of around half a dozen calls, listening to music for a couple of hours, watching videos, using social media applications, and gaming too. In case you are a moderate user, then the same smartphone will go on for at least a day. OnePlus Nord 2T offers a better and highly optimized battery as compared to Vivo V25 Pro which could be a major turn-off for Vivo fans.

Vivo V25 Pro Review: Should you buy it or not?

Here I’ll try to answer the question from the user’s point of view. First things first, the smartphone feels very comfortable and has a decent design. On top of that, it tends to offer satisfactory performance too. The camera quality of the device is better than most of the competitors in the same price range. So if you are someone who is looking for decent performance along with a brilliant camera system then you can go for the device.

However, if factors like battery optimizations, processor capabilities, etc, bother you then avoid investing your money in the Vivo V25 Pro. Furthermore, in an honest opinion, I found the smartphone is a bit overpriced which is a big no when buying a smartphone in the days when we have uncountable options in all the price segments.
