Vivo T1x review: Is it the new king of budget segment smartphones in India?

Vivo keeps experimenting in the budget smartphone segment with new devices. The company replaced the Y series with the T series in the Indian market. Recently, we got to see a new 4G device named Vivo T1x that made its debut a couple of weeks ago in the market.

Vivo surprises all its competitors with its unconventional strategies. And the launch of a 4G smartphone at a time when all the companies are blindly producing 5G supporting devices is proof of that. The smartphone runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor, which makes it a direct competitor to Realme 9i. It is the third phone in the Vivo T series in India. Is the Vivo T1x worth buying? Well, I have been testing out Vivo T1x for sometime now and I have summed up my thought below:

Vivo T1x review: Design

As soon as I opened the box and pulled the phone out of it, I must say that I was pretty convinced with the fact Vivo works hard on the design of budget phones too. The camera module is placed at the rear panel’s top left corner comprising two sensors and a flash.

I got to review the Space Blue colours variant, and it, in my opinion, outclassed every other phone available in the same price range in terms of looks. The rear panel was not smudge-free, but the smudges were not that dak and were getting wiped easily.

The brand has tried a little little bit to make the smartphone flat at the edges. The volume rockers and the power button is placed at the right spine of the smartphone. The SIM tray has been placed at the upper end of the device.

One thing that instantly got me was the inclusion of a 3.5mm jack port next to the Type-C port at the lower edge. These days companies miss out on the jack to make the phone slim which is not a good practice for sure.

As for the display of the device, Vivo has tried its best to make the display almost bezel-less. However, the chin of the device is considerably thick. It has a punch-hole at the top middle area of the screen for the placement of the front camera.

Vivo T1x review: Display

The Vivo T1x comes with a 6.58-inch display with FHD+ resolution complemented with a 90Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling. The vibrant display of the device makes sure that you get access to all the colours while watching videos on your phone.

However, the absence of an AMOLED display is quite clear whenever there is a representation of pure black colour. You can adjust the colour profile of the display by visiting the settings.

Keeping the budget of the smartphone in mind, we can say that it coule have done better in the display department. However, we cannot expect a lot from a smartphone under Rs 15,000. In addition, the device also has an eye protection mode that helps adjust the colours of the screen in such a way that it puts less strain on your eyes.

Vivo T1x review: Camera

The rear camera system of the Vivo T1x has two sensors, including a 50MP primary sensor and a 2MP secondary sensor. The rear camera setup of the device offers decent photographs in the daylight setting. The colour saturation and output were on point. It got a bit hampered in the low-light settings.

But safe to say, I have limited hopes in the camera department because of the budget. However, you can manage to get average-level photographs with the Night mode feature of the device.

It also has other modes like Panorama, Live Photo, Time Lapse, slo-mo, etc. If you use the flash while clicking the photographs, then you will surely miss out on the details.

Talking about the front camera, it has an 8MP sensor for clicking selfies and attending video calls. The selfie camera output was decent until there was natural light. After that, the output was not that good, and it is quite understood too. One thing which I can assure you is that both the sensors produce up-to-the-mark images in most of the scenarios.

Vivo T1x review: Performance

As for the performance, the Vivo T1x works on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor along with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. The smartphone operates on the Funtouch OS 12 based on the Android 11 operating system.

As soon as I was done with the set-up of my phone, I noticed something, it was not as smooth as it should be. So a suggestion to all of you, don’t run the phone on a smart switch if you want snappy performance. Instead, set it to a 90Hz refresh rate.

The bloatware and the Vivo’s browser are always a spoilsport, no doubt, but you can stop the notifications from settings. I installed multiple applications on the smartphone and opened them all in a single go. There was no trace of heating or lagging issues for hours.

However, while running heavy applications, charging, and streaming for long hours, the phone did get heated up a little bit. To avoid these issues, try taking breaks in between gaming and streaming sessions.

Furthermore, you can play heavy games at low graphics settings to ensure seamless gameplay. The device, as claimed by the company, has four-layer cooling, but that does not seem of much help while running heavy games with high graphics.

The Vivo T1x also has a RAM expansion feature to increase the RAM up to 2GB and making the experience more buttery. The absence of 5G stops the smartphone run from being ready for the future.

However, it competes well with those who claim to have 5G and lag behind in features and specifications. The device has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor integrated with the power button.

Vivo T1x review: Battery

The Vivo T1x ships with a 5000mAh battery that ensures a long-lasting life even after extensive use. At the time of testing, the battery went straight up for around a day and 10 hours when the device was being used moderately. However, at extensive use, it lasted for around 10 hours, in which the device was used for continuous streaming, answering and making calls, gaming, etc.

So if you are someone who goes hard on your phone, then Vivo T1x is not going to disappoint you. The smartphone supports 18W fast charging support that fuels up the device completely in around an hour and 50 minutes.

Considering that the smartphone has a monstrous battery, the power support looks weak in front of it. Nonetheless, what else can we expect in a budget below Rs 15,000. The handset automatically stops charging as soon as it hits the hundred per cent mark.

Vivo T1x review: Should you buy it or not?

The Vivo T1x is quite a good smartphone as far as the budget and performance of the same are concerned. The absence of 5G connectivity support could be a turn-off for the users who are looking for the same at this point in time. All the users who want a battery powerhouse at an affordable price can buy the Vivo T1x.

The handset also provides a fast-paced performance and beautiful shots. However, if you are someone who is looking for a clean user interface, super camera prowess, and AMOLED display, then this phone is definitely not for you.
