Vivo is gearing for its next shot at a bezel-less phone with the Nex 3. Its predecessors, the Nex invented the wheel with the pop-up camera while the next Nex sported a Dual-display (review). From the renders and leaks, the Nex 3 seems to flaunt a curved waterfall display. The recent teaser confirms it to boast the 5G support as well. It’s set to arrive next month, as announced via the official Weibo post.

Vivo Nex 3 expected features

So far, we have had few of its key features officially announced and the rest are leaks from reputed sources.

In the last week of July, we got a glimpse of the Nex 3’s curved display. This curvature is steeper than the designs of yesteryears, which seems to venture into the full-screen territory with no apparent cutouts, notches or holes. Vivo Nex 3 is very likely one of the so-called Waterfall display phones of 2019, which includes the likes of OPPO.

The top and bottom bezels are also pretty slim. As for the front camera, it might either be placed within a motorized pop-up or find itself under the display. Vivo has reportedly fixed the “window effect”, plaguing the under-display camera. We look forward to the novel implementation.

This was followed by another revelation of the headphone jack’s presence, from Mr. Li Xiang, Product Manager, Vivo.

He was also generous with some sketches showcasing the inspiration behind the new design. Besides the display, we got to see the circular camera at the back of Nex 3.

Update: A new leak endows more details on the battery and the charging tech.

Finally, we know the Vivo Nex 3 is slated to arrive next month and it will come bearing 5G. Although the actual date isn’t mentioned, the official Nex Account commented September 1, which could either be the day of unveiling or when the media invites would be rolled out.
