Twitter CEO Elon Musk has recently announced that Twitter Blue will be relaunched on December 2. This time the verification system will also have three different colour-coded checkmarks to verify the user’s identity. Twitter will be adding gold checkmarks to the accounts owned by the companies, grey checkmarks to be provided to government bodies, and blue ones to individuals, irrespective of the fact they are celebrities or not. These new checkmarks will be activated right after the Twitter Blue launch. The identities of all the account holders will be verified by the company.

The announcement for the same came when Musk apologised for a tweet that mentioned a delay in verification. The Tesla CEO then explained how these new colours would work. Musk also said that the feature seems a little bit painful, but it is necessary for the smooth functioning of the platform. The tentative launch date of the feature is December 2. However, we can get to see a difference of a day or 2 in the final official Twitter Blue launch.

How are Twitter Blue checkmarks going to change the game?

First things first, the categorisation of the Twitter badges is not the only change we are going to witness in the new Twitter Blue. Previously, the verified badges were provided to only popular celebrities and accounts run by fans. Moreover, Twitter checkmarks worked as status symbols. However, now the scene is going to change completely as these checkmarks will be provided to everyone who pays the subscription fee for the same.

It simply refers to the fact that any person, irrespective of the number of followers, can also get the Twitter verified check mark. The model will mainly focus on growing the revenue of Twitter which is, of course, a major concern for the platform right now. The subscription will only be necessary for some famous organizations or entities. However, if it in any way increases the reach of the accounts, then all the users who use Twitter as creators will have to subscribe to Twitter Blue.
