If you are a car enthusiast then this bit of information might be exciting to you. The American electric car maker Tesla may make its much-awaited debut in India this coming summer. Well, that’s what the great Elon Musk just tweeted.

In response to a Twitter querry, the Tesla’s CEO and a Silicon Valley maverick, mentioned his plan to enter the Indian market “summer this year”.

Check out the tweet here:

In 2016, the electric car manufacturer made its intentions clear when it went public with its plan to start shipping self-drive cars to India. The company already received an overwhelming response to pre-booking offer where a number of Indian residents paid $1000 for it.

However, heavy import duties on cars and lack of separate category for electric cars is a big stumbling block in Tesla’s India plans.

It is worth mentioning that Indian PM Narendra Modi during his trip to Silicon Valley also visited Tesla factory with keen interest. Furthermore, he also invited the carmaker to set up shop in India. Even Tesla had earlier shown interest in setting a major manufacturing plant for Asia in India.
