Sony Xperia XA1, Xperia XA1 Ultra and Xperia XZs Announced at MWC 2017

Amidst all the media flair for Xperia XZ Premium, Sony also showcased its other siblings – the Xperia XZs, Xperia XA1 Ultra, and Xperia XA1 – at the Mobile World Congress 2017. Both these smartphones are likely to priced in the midrange segment.

The Xperia XZs is basically a stripped down version the XZ Premium. It doesn’t get to flaunt a 4K HDR display like its elder sibling but the appealing “Motion Eye” camera that integrates Sony’s latest super-fast triple stacked CMOS sensor with DRAM. The new camera system can capture 720p slow-motion videos at whopping 960 fps!

Sony has packed a 5.2-inch 1080p display which gets a 2.5D curved glass covering on the top. Unlike XZ Premium’s glass back, it bears a metal back, which might not be a bad thing considering all the fingerprints and smudges glass back phones attract.

The XZs employs Qluamcom’s Snapdragon 820 which is still considered one the best chipsets in the market. Just like the XZ Premium it also carries on water resistance feature which has become a regular feature in upper tier Sony phones. As per Sony, It will start shipping it in April, and pricing details will be announced closer to launch date.

The Xperia XA1 and XA1 Ultra. on the other hand, are likely to be more affordable as they both are powered by Mediatek Helio P20 chipset. The XA1 comes with a 5-inch 1280x720pixels screen resolution. The XA1 Ultra as the name implies packs a 6-incher 1080p display. Both devices share same 23-megapixel f/2.0 rear camera lens as far as the primary camera is concerned, though they Sony choose to pack different selfie shooters. The smaller one comes with an 8-megapixel selfie shooter, while the XA1 possess a 16-megapixels with optical image stabilization for improved video quality.
