Sony has unveiled the successor to its last year’s smartphone Xperia PRO. Sony Xperia PRO-I will be the world’s first smartphone to come with a 1-inch Exmor RS sensor with phase detection autofocus. It will support 12-bit RAW shooting and variable dual aperture to seamlessly change the depth of the field. And for other regular smartphone features, Sony Xperia PRO-I has a Snapdragon 888 processor and a 4K OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR.

It is priced at 1800 US dollars (Rs. 1,35,000 approx.) and will be available in countries like the US, UK, France, Netherlands, Germany, and Nordics from December 2021. It will launch in other countries by the end of 2021. Sony Xperia PRO-I will be up for pre-order from October 28.

Sony Xperia PRO-I comes with a triple camera setup with the Zeiss T anti-reflective coating and a 3D iToF sensor that is capable of calculating the distance between the camera and the subject for more accurate and faster autofocus. For the primary 12MP sensor, Sony has used the latest 24mm lens with Zeiss Tessar optics that is tooled to ensure lesser distortion and more sharpness as well as contrast.

The smartphone also has a 12MP 124-degree ultra-wide-angle 16mm lens and a 12MP 50mm telephoto camera with OIS. PRO-I also marks to be the first phone ever to have 4K 120fps slow-motion video.

The smartphone has 315 phase-detection AF points that can cover 90% of the frame. It includes Real-time Eye-AF for humans and animals, as well as object tracking. There is also an anti-distortion shutter for cleaner capture of fast-moving objects, and 20fps, AF/AE burst shooting.

Among the list of camera paraphernalia, you also get quick toggles for shooting instantly in Photography Pro mode, the ability to filter wind noise with proprietary audio separation tech, and 8 different color settings with a 21:9 recording ratio.

As for the front, Xperia PRO-I has an 8MP selfie snapper with an f/2.0 aperture, ¼” Exmor RS sensor, and an 84-degree wide-angle lens.

The Sony Xperia PRO- features a 6.5-inch 4K OLED HDR display with 120Hz refresh rate, 21:9 aspect ratio, 10-bit colors from BT.2020 specification, 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset paired up with Adreno 660 GPU, up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage (that is expandable up to 1TB).

PRO-I runs on Android 11 and has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security. It has a 3.5mm audio jack, stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos, 360-Reality Audio, 360 Reality Audio hardware decoding, 360 spatial sound, DSEE Ultimate, stereo recording, and Qualcomm aptX HD audio.

The smartphone packs a 4500mAh battery with 30W fast charging that supports USB PD, Xperia Adaptive Charge, Qi wireless charging, and battery share function. It is rated IP68 for water and dust resistance. Connectivity features of the smartphone include 5G, VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS/GLONASS, NFC, and USB 3.1 Type-C.
