Sony refreshes the Bravia TV lineup with the X80J model. The 4K LED TV will be out in 43, 50, 55, 65, and 75-inch sizes, with support for HDR, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos standards. The biggest update, however, is the underlying Google TV UI. For the unversed, this new interface collates movies, shows, live TV, and more from across the different OTT platforms and offers recommendations based on your history and searches.

Here’s everything else the X80J brings to the table.

Sony BRAVIA X80J Specs and Features

Although Bravia X80J comes in multiple sizes viz. 43, 50, 55, 65, and 75 inches, only the 65″ variant is available for order now. That said, other sizes are expected to be released soon. In any case, all these panels come with direct backlighting, but without any dimming zones.

Further, the TV sports flagship-y features you come to expect out of a high-end Sony TV. This includes proprietary technologies like X1 4K HDR Picture Processor, Triluminos Display, and 4K X-Reality PRO. The panel has direct backlighting, but no dimming zones. There is compatibility for HDR Dolby Vision and Dolby Audio. Speaking of audio, it endows 20W X-balanced speaker output.

The connectivity options comprise stuff like Wi-Fi, ethernet, Bluetooth 4.2, four HDMI ports (w/ eARC and HDCP 2.3), 3.5mm jack, and 2 USB sockets. There is 16GB of internal storage as well.

Coming to the software, as mentioned already, Sony has equipped the X80J with Google TV UI, which is a visual as well as functional overhaul over Android TV. You get to download your favorite apps (including OTT ones) from Google Play Store. And now in the new interface, you don’t have to visit each app individually. Instead, the content from all of them will be smartly aggregated on the homescreen. You can easily search, even using voice. There is support for both Google (with the bundled remote) and Amazon’s voice assistants (with Alexa-enabled speakers). Among other things, there is also the presence of both Google Chromecast and Apple AirPlay as well as Home Kit here.
