TL; DR
  • Qualcomm’s official Weibo account has confirmed the launch date for the upcoming chipset.
  • It is said to feature an octa-core CPU configuration with two high-performance cores clocked at 3.80 GHz and six energy-efficient cores clocked between 3.32 and 3.36 GHz.
  • Even more interesting is the rumor that the chipset uses the same Adreno 840 GPU as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which should deliver excellent gaming performance.

The California-based chip manufacturer Qualcomm has announced the launch date for yet another flagship-tier chipset: Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. Previously, the company mentioned the chip at the annual Snapdragon Summit in September, but it didn’t reveal many details. However, since then, we’ve heard multiple rumors and reports about it.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Launch Date (Chinese)

Qualcomm’s official Weibo account has confirmed the launch date for the upcoming chipset: November 26, 2025. Following the unveil, you should expect to see a couple of flagship chipsets to hit the Chinese and Indian markets.

However, given that 8 Gen 5 sits below the 8 Elite Gen 5 in Snapdragon’s flagship lineup, the chipset wouldn’t be as powerful. Hence, we could see it in smartphones with a slightly lower price tag than those with the 8 Elite Gen 5.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Expected Specifications

Qualcomm’s next flagship-tier chipset should be based on a 3nm manufacturing process. It is said to feature an octa-core CPU configuration with two high-performance cores clocked at 3.80 GHz and six energy-efficient cores clocked between 3.32 and 3.36 GHz.

Even more interesting is the rumor that the chipset uses the same Adreno 840 GPU as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which should deliver excellent gaming performance.

Although there’s a good chance the GPU could be clocked slightly lower. Even so, the processor is rumored to provide consistent gaming performance (over 100 fps) in benchmarks. Furthermore, the chipset is said to bring upgrades to AI, the camera, and overall performance.

To put things into perspective, the chipset reportedly scores around 3,000 points in the single-core and 10,000 points in the multi-core GeekBench 6 CPU test. Furthermore, it could score around 3.3 million points on the AnTuTu benchmark.

At least from a benchmark standpoint, the chipset could deliver performance similar to the Snapdragon 8 Elite, though nothing can be said with absolute certainty at the moment.

Upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Smartphones

Globally, there are a few smartphones that could use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. These include the OnePlus Ace 6T (set to launch as the OnePlus 15R in global markets), the Vivo X300 FE, and the Poco F8.

We’re expecting smartphones powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 to hit global markets by December, and India should be no exception.
