Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 Goes Official in India with Major Upgrades Over 7 Gen 3

Qualcomm has officially launched the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset in India, marking a big upgrade over the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. Built on TSMC’s 4nm process, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 introduces a new 1+4+3 architecture: 1x 2.8GHz prime core, 4x 2.4GHz performance cores, and 3x 1.84GHz efficiency cores.

It also features ARM’s A720 cores for both prime and performance cores, while the efficiency cluster switches to A520 cores. The GPU gets an upgrade too with a new Adreno unit (exact model unspecified), delivering 30% better graphics rendering. 

CPU performance is up by 27%, and NPU performance sees a 65% jump, making this chipset more AI-capable than ever. It supports 2X larger shared memory and features Qualcomm’s latest Generation AI tools including support for Stable Diffusion 1.5.

Display, Camera, and Audio

Snapdragon 7 Gen 4

For displays, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 supports QHD+ at 144Hz and external displays up to 4K at 60Hz. It also brings top-end connectivity with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, USB 3.1 Gen 2, and support for NavIC and NFC. The chipset is compatible with LPDDR5X RAM clocked at 4200 MHz and UFS 3.1 storage.

The 7 Gen 4 can handle triple 12-bit ISPs, up to 200 MP photo capture, and 4K HDR video at 60 fps. It also brings AI-powered autofocus, auto exposure, and auto white balance for the first time in this series, along with hardware EIS, MSNR, and video super-resolution. Audio also gets a boost with Qualcomm’s AQ-STiC AX6 HiFi DAC and aptX codec support.

This is the first time the Snapdragon 7 series gets Qualcomm’s expanded Personal Area Network technology, designed to maintain seamless connectivity between your phone and wireless earbuds. It also supports the Qualcomm Adaptive Performance Engine 4.0 and Adaptive Gain Control.

HONOR and vivo will be the first brands to adopt the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4.
