Cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar backed Internet of things company Smartron launched its srt.phone at a press event in New Delhi on May 3. The phone was unveiled by the cricketing icon who, apart from being the brand ambassador, is also a strategic investor in the company. The first ever Sachin Tendulkar signature series is going to be a Flipkart exclusive and it costs Rs. 12,999 for the 32GB variant and 13,999 In for the 64GB variant. Besides, there are a few launch day offers that you can avail.

Talking about the new phone, it comes with a 5.5-inch IPS display running at full HD resolution of 1920x1080p and is covered by a 2.5D curved glass. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 chipset coupled Adreno 510 GPU with 4GB RAM. The phone comes with 64GB of onboard storage and unlimited tCloud storage as well.

On the optics front, the phone has a 13-megapixel rear shooter with PDAF and LED flash while there is an 5-megapixel selfie snapper on the front. The phone comes out of the box running on Android 7.0 Nougat and company promise quaterly securityupdates as well as Android version. It is backed by a 3000mAh battery which supports fast charging.

The dual SIM phone supports 4G VoLTE, Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS and other standard modern day connectivity options.

It is worth mentioning that, the company failed to woo customers in the first attempt with Smartron t.phone which was launched last year along with Smartron t.book. The t.phone innards included a super AMOLED full HD display and Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC with 4GB of RAM under the hood. The Smartron t.book, on the other hand, is a hybrid laptop running on Windows 10 which was boasted as Microsoft Surface Killer.

Smartron recently penned a 3G and 4G patent license agreement with Qualcomm that allows it to develop, manufacture and sell WCDMA, CDMA2000 and 4G/LTE devices.

Launch-day-offers include free 1 year extended warranty, back covers worth 599 INR. Up to Rs. 1500 INR off if you exchange your old phone and more.
