HTC has been lavishly spending ideas and efforts on the last two flagship devices, namely HTC One M9 and HTC One M8. The recently launched One M9 has recently got a release date in some parts of the world. One of the major concerns of HTC One M8 users is the doubt of degree of success in case they switch over to One M9. To help you drive through the ordeal, here is the comparison between the two.

Design and Display

No doubt One M8 wears one of the sleekest and elegant design with charming looks and astounding specifications. It’s thin with a really beautiful finish, feels bit weighted in the hand and has a great grip. HTC One M8 incorporates a 5 inch full HD display with a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels. The display is an LCD screen with a pixel density of 441ppi.

By contrast, the HTC One M9 hasn’t changed a great deal from the previous model. HTC has slightly recounted the back panel and edges in the name of good handling. HTC has 5inch Super LCD 3 display with a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels at 441ppi. It may not be as sharp, but 1080p on a 5 inch display still looks pretty good and is guarded alongside by Corning Gorilla Glass 4.

Processor and Storage

One M8 is powered by a 2.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor coupled with 2 GB of RAM while One M9 is boosted by a 1.5 GHz octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor paired with 3 GB of RAM. One M8 utilizes Adreno 330 GPU and the One M9 has Adreno 430 for the same purpose.

If storage is your main concern, you’ll get lots of space with both devices. The M9 is equipped with 32 GB of internal storage, and you can expand it up to 128 GB via microSD card, whereas One M8 comes with 16 GB storage onboard which is expandable upto 128 GB via microSD card.

 Camera

HTC One M9 features a 20 megapixel, rear-facing camera with HD video recording at 2160p @30fps and a 5 megapixel front camera that is capable of taking awesome selfies.

HTC One M8 camera is a 4 MP camera with the extraordinary ultra-pixel technology which enables crisp images in all kind of ambient lights. The camera is capable of 1080p video capture @30fps.  The camera is accompanied by dual LED flash and a 5 MP front camera is available too.

Battery

HTC One M8 battery is a non-removable 2600 mAh Li-Po setup which is capable of powering up the device for upto 14 hours of 3G talktime in a single charge.

The One M9 has 2840 mAh non-removable battery and supports Quick Charge 2.0. HTC claims the HTC One M9 battery to provide 3G talktime of 21.8 hours and 3G standby of 16.8 days.

Verdict

Although there are no major differences between the two flagships, yet for those who prefer to stay updated One M9 is the right call. But for those who look for some specific technical causes to upgrade their smartphone, I’d suggest you to continue with your One M8. There is no issue to get disheartened by your One M8, because you chose a companion worth your company.
