Google’s Pixel 9 series is here, and it brings some seriously handy features that make setting up your new phone a breeze. Although we didn’t get to see the newer version of Android, i.e., Android 15, Google has packed in some clever little features to enhance the user experience.
We all know the hassle of transferring data during the initial setup, and let’s be real—sometimes you forget or just skip it. However, with the Pixel 9, Google has got you covered with a new option to back up or copy your data even after the setup is complete.
This means you can transfer your data from another device anytime, without the stress of having to start it over. This can be especially helpful for users who often switch smartphones or have more than one smartphone.
Copy data anytime after the setup is complete
Here’s how to use this feature:
1. Open the Settings app.
2. Scroll down, and tap on “Back up or copy data.”
3. Tap on “Copy data.”
4. Now, you’ve got options—you can go with a cable or transfer wirelessly over Wi-Fi.
5. Tap “Start,” select what you want to copy, and you’re all set.
If you are wondering, all your current data will still remain on the device—nothing will be deleted.

Google’s new Express Setup
Another convenient feature is the new Express Setup. This feature only copies what’s missing from your new device, skipping over apps and data that are already there. It also only copies what’s stored locally, making the setup process even faster. Sure, if you want to copy all your data, you can do that too.

Switch from Wi-Fi to cable during the setup
And if your Wi-Fi connection decides to slow down during the transfer, you can switch to a cable without losing your progress.
