Samsung is perhaps taking more than its fair share of time with Oreo rollout on its flagship phones. The only phones to get Android Oreo so far are Galaxy S8/S8+, but the rollout was suddenly halted last week. Samsung later cited a bug causing unexpected reboots as the reason for the same.

The issue has now been resolved and Samsung has resumed Oreo rollout on Galaxy S8 devices.

The new firmware versions G950FXXU1CRB7 and G955XXU1CRB7 are being rolled out for the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+, respectively. If you are already running Android Oreo on your phone, the update package has a size of 530MB. For those who are still on Nougat-based ROM, the update size will be considerably larger.

The update log shows that the firmware has a new date (February 19) and the security patch date is February 1 (same as the last update). The changelog mentions that the stability has been improved, which is to say that the random reboot issue has been resolved.

For now, the update is rolling out in Germany, but you can expect the rollout to resume in other markets shortly.

The first set of Samsung phones to run Android Oreo out of the box will be Samsung Galaxy S9/ s9+. The leaks for the same have been raining left and right, and the South-Korean giant will officially present its next-generation flagships on February 25, 2018 (THE unveiling is scheduled for 10: 30 PM IST).
